FRIDAY NIGHT SERIES

SEASON 8 INFO: STARTS October 10/14/16

The following info is for the Friday Night Race League. See Race Pages for more info on the Saturday & Sunday Race Series.

Races are held each Friday night from 10:30 pm until Midnight EST. (9:30 CST / 8:30 MST / 7:30 PST)

You will receive an invite to our private lobby at 10:15 EST (9:15 CST / 8:15 MST / 7:15 PST)
Racing will consist of a 15 minute practice session, a 30 minute qualification, 5 minute warm-up and then on to an approximately 1 hour race with a pit stop required. This will be lap based and will depend on the track and lap times, but expect 25 to 45 laps, unless otherwise posted.
It is advised that you try to learn the track prior to race day. We will only have 15 minutes of practice and 30 minutes of qualifying prior to the race, so that is not much time to learn the track and get your car set up.
Don't forget to set up a pit stop strategy and have it active for the race.

Car selection & livery (paint job/number) will be used for entire series. You are not allowed to switch vehicles once the first race day begins.

We will do a standing start race based on the green light (NOT a rolling/formation lap start to the race)

I haven't done much of anything with LMP1 cars, but I'd give it a try. I had fun racing with you guys on Friday, I definitely want to try to make more races.

No idea what I'd pick as a car yet, I don't even know which are the good ones :lol: Any suggestions?
 
Toyota and either one of the Audi's seem to be the best choices (if you have the DLC packs). I personally like the Aston Martin, but remember that I'm a perpetual back marker! LOL.
 
I think I read somewhere that the imaginary LMP1 cars have quite a bit more pace than the "real" ones. That may be old and fixed with a patch though.

Your right, they are the fastest prototypes in the game. However, it all comes down to driving skill anyway. They are not drastically faster where they would be considered out right unfair.

Glad to hear your enjoying the league. Some great racing here overall. There always seems to be a battle taking place on track somewhere. I think LMP-1 has everyone a little nervous. I know myself and a few others have hardly driven them. However, I think that these LMP-1's will still be very exciting to drive on track.
 
I'm glad to hear people are enjoying the league. That's what we wanted: fun, close races without it being too serious.

To me, the LMP1s feel like Formula 1 cars with fully-enclosed cockpits. The main goal of last seasons GT3 series, and this seasons LMP1 season, is to do a mixed class series next season. A lot of people said it's next to impossible to run a GT3/LMP1 mixed class series, but we're hoping to prove them wrong.
 
Sunday Series LMP1

There are only 2 Toyota liveries (why PCARS, why?). Others CAN take a Toyota. We'll just have duplicates out on the track, hence 7 (A) and 8 (A) cars being listed (others will be 7/8 (B), etc,). Each Audi only has 3 liveries. The Aston Martin, RWD, and Marek each have 20+ liveries to select from. I tested each make/model of car at Monza GP with default settings, and was surprised to find that the Aston Martin suited my driving style (slow but steady) the best. The RWD P30 was my second choice. If you keep the stock settings and test each for 5 laps, it takes less than 10 minutes to try each car and see which one you like best. I'd rather not see 12 of the same Toyota's on the grid! LOL.

The first race is at Monza GP / 45 laps. I selected an "easy" track for us to start with so we can get used to running the LMP1 cars. Remember to save all of your GT3 and LMP1 car tuning set ups, because the next series we'll be running both sets of cars and using some of the same tracks we have recently run on. And remember to set up a headlight and windshield wipers due to night races and/or rain races.

Please reserve your car and livery ASAP. Try to commit to making a majority of the races. If you can't make most of them, sign up as an alternate and we'll let you fill in when a regular racer needs to miss a race. This way you can still be part of HFRL without having to commit to every race.

@Chad - It was fun running in your F1 race yesterday. I was a little nervous, as the F1 2016 rules/pitstops/tracks are new to me. I'm used to my usual PCARS races and set ups. It ended up being fun, and I can't believe I came in 5th. That rain at the start was insane.
