And hopefully, it'll do more than LC did.

Looking forward to playing as Alex as said in a preview sometime ago.

Does anyone have first had experience playing this game yet?

[Edited]

Nevermind. With all the Steam Pre-Purchase News I thought it was out already. Doesn't look like it's out until June 1st.

Its classed as an add on pack, if it was a new game it would cost more then £35.

Cool. Alongside playing other games like Quake 4 and Oblivion, I'm playing Half-Life 2. I think it's the 4th time I'm making my way through the game. I'll gladly pay for this expansion pack.

I understand the need for websites to put up adverts to pay their way, but is it really necessary to force people to watch game adverts so that they can watch a game trailer, i.e., another game advert? Aren't they being paid to host the new Half-Life trailer anyway? That's how adverts and trailers work, no?

KM.

i wish they sold Half-life 1: source at stores, i never really played much of the original and i don't want to have to order it off steam <X- I
i'm definetly going to have to pick that up though.

There is nothing exciting about HL1 source, the only thing which got an upgrade is just the water.

The rest is just old graphics.

Somewhat olds news...

I've already pre-downloaded it.. and pre-paid it.

AM i the only one here that's going to beat it that night?
It's sapossed to be 6 hours of gameplay. But it's more like 5 or less for people that are famular with the way Valve sets theres games up.

Which gives me an idea, to race my friend through the Single-Player campaign.

Are you saying the Half Life episode 1 is only 6 hours? Thats not much at all. Hopefully its a free download because if its an expanstion it doesnt sound worth it for only 6 hours of game play.

Well, it's a whole $17 if you pre-purchase it through Steam. How much do you want?

Thats not so bad at all then. 👍
I will probably get it and just take my time with the game. Search all the levels and enjoy all the physics. Mabey even set it to hard to stretch the game out longer.

It's only an episode. They are planning to make one around every 6 months. Thats why it's only going to be 6 hours long.

I can't wait for this, it's going to be great. I love Half-life 2.

And by the way, you don't get to play as Alyx. They're going to stick with the no cutscenes tradition, and you'll always see everything through Gordon's eyes as in the previous games.

You mean you don't play in Hard as a matter of course? Do you play HL2 online at all?

Master_Yoda
HL2 doesn't have online.... there is HL2: Deathmatch, Counter-Strike:Source, and Dod:Source.
The HL2 deathmatch and counterstrike are online. How else would you play with other people in different states and countries. :sly:

Wish I had a good enough PC to run it like that. HDR 👍

Bought it today and preloading it now. Figured that I'd save more than just $2 on it, since if I was going to the "local" computer-game store, it's a 30min drive either way - so I'm saving gas and time, plus I'd have to pay for parking, nonetheless search for an empty parking spot (saving even more gas and time), and I don't have to pay the profit the store wants on the product.

I probably saved $20 and 90 mins in the process. Wow. Internet shopping rules!

And in other news: Along in the confirmation that HL2E1 went gold, Valve confirmed that it was the first in a trilogy, so there will only be two more follow-up episodes to HL2 before any (if any) sequels might be confirmed.

What do you mean your pre-loading it? Do you get to DL it to your computer but you have to wait until the actual release date to play it? How does that work? I am new to the world of PC gaming. Sorry. Usuallly I just buy a PC game and put it in.

I'm guessing Steam automatically activates it on release date.

Yes, that's precisely it.

The pre-load itself is free, but it won't be activated until June 1st and have been paid for, whichever comes last. Buying now gets a $2 reduction in price, and the pre-load is quick, even faster if you already have HL2 installed from before, then it just downloads the extra bits.

Since it runs through Steam, it can detect if you paid for it or not, and will act after that (proven through a certification number if bought in store). If paid for, it'll start right up with a simple double-click, no need for putting in any game-discs or any of that.👍

It's great isn't it! I preloaded mine 2 weeks ago and payed for it 1 week ago. Too bad im going to be working when it's released. :yuck:

I pre-downloaded and pre-paid for it last night for $17.00. Cant wait to start playing it thursday. 👍
PS the pre-load took a couple hours. Not sure if I did something wrong but it took longer than I expected. Started out DL at over 300k then I looked later and it was at 56k then back to around 100k.
