So the opinioin seems to be splitting...

It is nothing but overhyped. The story advancements in FPS's was done before, and better, in the original Half-Life. It was done better on consoles in the PS2/DC port of Half-Life and in Red Faction I and II.
Niether Halo 1 or 2 did nothing new for the genre, not even on consoles, and they get game of the year in every publication, blog and voting event conceived since their release. The multiplayer was also done no better than Goldeneye or Perfect Dark.
 
Wow I thought this thread would have gone the opposite way as I usually only hear praise of Halo 1-2.

Well, it was more liked on the Xbox

All I've heard about Halo on PC is it sucks or doesn't run that well.
 
Niether. It's better on the PC than the XBox. The problem is though, that most other FPS's on the PC are better than it anyways.

From what I saw watching it at my friends is that it ran fine but.....ugh.... no thank you.

Part of the reason I generally don't like it is the fact I don't like sci-fi type games and movies.
 
I kinda enjoyed Halo on the X-Box, and as it's supposed to be better on the PC, but you guys are slamming it. I'm going to borrow it off my mate and find out for myself.
 
We shouldn't really be comparing it to PC shooters, because the Xbox is not as powerful as a PC. As an Xbox FPS, it is good but as a PC FPS it's pretty mediocre.
 
No were comparing Halo PC to the rest. I mean comeon, it's a baught idea, they never work. The reason I slam it is for what Tornado, it's simply overated by a bunch of 12 year olds. This is what I heard in one of my summer school classes.
"My cousin plays Halo 2 online for money" "Blah Blah Blah" "I could probally own anyone here at any PC Shooter anyday." "blah Blah Blah" If only he knew... I.. Was...A...Shooter..Addict. But year, those are the real words.

But Tornado Halo didn't get all of the game of the years.. HL2 DID :D With over 75! Halo 2, if i'm not mistaken got less then 30.

Well I don't play it cause I don't wanna waste my time playing that game when there are better and more original games out there. CS, Serious Sam 2, Battlefield 2, FEAR, etc...
 
I like Halo 2 for Xbox than Halo for PC. The PC version doesn't run very well.

I tried it on my dad's computer, which is a Sony Vaio RB30 (Pentium 4 w/HT and 200-somewhat-MB of Video Memory) and at 1280X1024 resolution, the game lagged like it was running on 500MHz processor. Even in 640X480, it still has some lag in graphic. And that's on a P4 HT processor - I run normal P4, and heck, the game is unplayable at 1280X1024 resolution.

Plus the Xbox/TV version has better graphics.
 
That's only because your computer can't run higher res. At highest resolution, Halo for the PC looks worlds better than the X-Box version.
 
But as I said - my dad's computer can't run it well either. And it's a pretty damn good computer.

Pentium 4 w/HT
512MB RAM
200-somewhat-MB of GPU Memory
17" LCD Monitor
....and such.

And it still lags.
 
Seriously... I have a $400 19" LCD monitor.. It looks 10000X better then the Xbox. Nothing on the Xbox can touch a computer. Actually nothing on a console yet can toucha computer.
 
Halo on 1280 x 1024 looked miles better than on xbox.

But it still looks like balls, once again.

I tried it on my Athlon64 3200+ with 512mb of Ram and 128mb video and i can run it on full settings no problem.

My only gripe so far is that it's a bit slow. Is there no RUN button?

Maybe the lag on the other computer was due to the excessive number of background programs being run, now that I think of it.

I think it's your dads extensive porn collection he is hiding on his.. um.. er... sugure protecter, in fact, PC Magazine said that if you have a surge protecter full with your dads porno, it says it may decrease the speed of the computer up to 50%. Now that all depends on what kind it is, gay porno will decrease the speed an addictional 30%, wile lesbian porno will actually incrase it a full 5%.
Might want look into it.

You're making this up.

Edwin's dad does not have p*rn, Im not sure if he has a surge protector, and the type of p*rn wouldnt affect it.

Though now that i think of it, that might explain why my Dell is so horribly slow, especially since it has no viruses since the Windows reinstall :crazy:
