Well here's the First one. I will warn you...this the first time I have ever done anything like this, so it's choppy in spots. Also this video is not supposed to show how well I can drift. This is footage from a week and a half ago. My tecnique now is much more refined and enjoyable to watch. I just figured I would make a bad one to show my progression better when I make the fresh one in a day or two. So please go easy on me, I promise better results soon.

New Video: A demo of what I consider Race Drifting.
I'll say right away that not all of these turns are Nailed. I can get each one, but yet to capture any that occur in the same lap. I think it's best to show the lap in its entirety for this one. Also I openly admit to using the handbrake on the final turn. I rarely do, just that time I messed up my positioning and decided to use it.

Did you e-brake drift on couple of the corners? The s2000 is a car that should be e-braked (sp?) (grmr?) only in the most dire of situations (hairpins and such). You were all over the track. Your kick back is violent but not out of control (DS2 or DFP?).

Hope to see some good improvements in your next vid. Gotta love the s2000s.
 
Yea I did use the E-brake, I was pushing myself to all limits to learn the cars capabilities. I no longer use the damn thing. I pushed myself so far in that stage of practice I looked like I was drunk. In that vid I used it at the first hairpin and on some of the long sweeping turns midway through the course. The final 2 turns were my strongest, used power over.
 
Downloading now, ok, nice editing job 👍, i think your settings still need to be mastered, your suffereing major kick back, try entering a corner with more speed so you can carry through with the corner, and just keep practicing :dopey:
 
I would recommend a different vehicle. I started trying to drift in the game in nomuken's skyline and all sorts of high powered agile vehicles. I do considerably better in a stock s13.

Also, the video was good, looks real clean in the beggining.

I practiced with other vehicles too, but I have always had a love for S200's. Especially the R1, I saw it on Best Motoring and knew that's what I want to do down the road. Then when I saw GT4 had it I nearly scorched my shorts. I'll switch it up everyonce in awhle, but this is my go to car.

I have since changed my settings a little and have more dynamic control of the car. That control has allowed me to up the speed too. As a quick observation, currently a majority of my drifts are held at 75-90MPH(obviously not the Hairpins).

Much improvement on the second vid. You are alot smoother. Some of the feints you did were far to late and some were fine, so you'll get it consistently soon enought.

It looks to me like you have a bit too much grip.

Otherwise, keep workin on being smooth, and you'll have it down.

That's the way I like it, I want to keep a balance of the two styles. If I really wanted to pull off big high angle drifts I'd use a different car. This car is killer for mountain racing 👍 . Sometime soon I am going to fire up my S14 and work on big drift with it. :sly:

I use a DS2, I recently tried the rubberband trick. It's helps a little but it takes awhile to get used to the increased tension. Sometime down the road I'll likely move up to a DFP. My freind has one and might be bringing it back from Pheonix when he visits. I know it's harder to use, but I'll know if I want to use one indefinately or not.
