I got it today, and i am now in the intermediate stage of graduated lisencing in my province! I still have lots of restrictions, so i will be totally restricion free after 15 months in this stage, Do any of your porvinces/states have a graduated lisenceing program?? if so what are the restrictions?

What are your restrictions in canada?

Sweden only has a 2 year restriction that says if your license gets suspended no matter how many months you always have to take a new test for your license.

EDIT: BTW congrats! Go and buy yourself a big cake and celebrate!

Yea I got mine 2 Tuesdays ago. It's a lot of fun being able to drive places by yourself. Now I can't get yelled at for taking turns too fast in the 323 like when I was on my permit. I also like going flat out on highway onramps, which I couldn't do before because I'd get yelled at because of the 323's fairly loud at higher RPM 1.6 I4. I've been up to about 80mph so far, but that was in a 55 zone, I haven't driven by myself on the highway yet(haven't had a need to).

It's fun.

My prvince's graduated lisence program consists of 3 stages: Learners, intermediate, and full lisence.

Learners stage you must be in it for a miniumum of 9 months
Restrictions include: minimum age of 15 1/2, must pass written test, zero blood alcohol level, supervising driver at al times who has had lisence for 3 years atleast, may carry as many pasengers asseatbelts, no towing, couple more to lazy to write htem

Intermediate: lasts 15 months
Restrictions:zero blood alcohol level, passengers limits(time and amount of people), may tow, few other(this is the one i am currentyl in

Full lisence (1st year)
Zero alcohol level, must keep this for a year before you have your actually full lisence,

Sorry if it dont make much sence i am really too lazy to type it all you, any other questions just ask

I've been driving for 8 years now, and I've never broken this one yet...

In the UK you can have a provisional licence on your 17th birthday - which allows you to drive providing you're accompanied by someone who has held a licence for 3 or more years. If you have a provisional licence, you can take your driving test to obtain a full one - so theoretically you can have a full licence (pending) on your 17th birthday - without having driven on public roads before (legally anyway).

I believe that if you get 6 or more points in the first year of having a full licence your licence is withdrawn and you must take a retest - most standard driving offences carry a 3 point endorsement (speeding, for example). I've yet to get a point, and so is my dad - and he's had his full licence since 1956... My brother got 3 points in 1992 but nothing before or since - and he now drives an Impreza...!

The problem we have is that the type of person who is banned from driving will carry on anyway - and the only punishment they receive - if caught - is a further ban... There's a kid near here who has been banned from driving for 5 years... He's 12 and won't be able to legally drive until then anyway - what the hell is the point in giving him a driving ban?

Of course no licence means no insurance and no tax (and usually no MoT - but not implicitly so). Wave goodbye to any legal recourse you have if one of these boneheads clips you...

Learners: Minimum 16th birthday(Hang a HUGE "L" sign on your car's rear end to say 'learners'. Written test.
Intermediate: Take one year after learners is taken. (Hang a HUGE N on the rear end, so say "NEW DRIVER". Road test.
Full: No sign on the rear end of the car, highway road test. One and a half years after you recieve your N

PLUS the other stuff Hanker said.

Learners have many restrictions, can only carry two passengers. One must have a FULL license, and another passenger.
Newbie's have less restrictions, can carry as many as they want *as long as you don't overload*

and congrats hanker!

Sounds like B.C. and Manitoba have the same system going, we probably copied yours, seeing how ours only came efffective last april i believe!!! Thank -you

Well actually, that's the new system
B.C is still running the old system.. but they 'say' they're gonna change it next year.. "soon"
As of RIGHT NOW, you can get the N after half a year, and the full after 1 1/2 years you get the N

But.. I think it's B.C. that copied.. who knows... one day, we may truly understand how the government runs...

Quebec's sucks the most thought, i'm in the process of getting my license and the waiting list to do the theory test is 3 months long! I called in july and my test is sept. 11th. after that you get a learners permit then a restricted license at the age of 18, I hate the restricted license because there are only 4!!!!! points on it. Its only at 24 when you finally get a class 5 license, and don't let me get started on insurance over here its so dam expensive. I wanted to get a Lexus Es300 or BMW 318i and for both its like $3000

. So thats my rant congrats on the license

School starts Sept. 3
And i dont have a car yet!! still saving up for one,(only been working for 2 and a half months) So until then i guess i will just be driving my parents cars: 1996 Chrysler Concorde, 1996 Chevy Cheyenne 3/4 ton

'96 Concorde is pretty nice, especially in darker colours, though it looks good in white.

What car are you saving for?

I want to get a second a 2nd generation Mazda MX-6 for some reason i really like the car, but it might be somewhat hard to find because they are quite rare, but who knows my mind may change,

I suggest to you the following:

1990-1993 Acura Integra sedan
1994-2001 Acura Integra sedan
1993-1995 Acura Legend coupe 6-speed
1990-1994 Eagle Talon TSi AWD
1990-1992 Infiniti M30
1992-2000 Lexus SC400 (though Canada never got it)
1986-1992 Mazda RX-7
1995-1998 Nissan 240SX
1992-1994 Volkswagen Corrado SLC VR6

I'd at least check out the ones you're more interested in before going forward with the MX-6 - especially because a few on my list will lower insurance rates (M30, Integra).

Thanks for the suggestions, are not a fan of the MX-6's??

2nd Gen MX-6s are very good and reliable cars. You should beable to find a MX-6 LS V6 for around $4K(for a '93). They aren't really rare either. They are becoming rarer as time goes by though. You might also want to look for a Probe GT, since it was made by Mazda for Ford, it's got the same quality as the MX-6, and I'm pretty sure that it's lighter and handles better(it's more sporty over the more luxurious MX-6) then the MX-6. Though the MX-6 is more spacious and smoother.

Actually I liked the MX-6: decent body shape and fairly quick. My suggestions are just there to supplement it.

we may of never gotten the Lexus SC400 but we did get the Lexus SC400.

:odd:

Yeah - within the same post he affirmed me and contradicted me on the same point, as well as said 'may of' which makes no sense.
