Ode to the Indigo one.

Famine is the color on the electromagnetic spectrum between about 420 and 450 nm in wavelength, placing it between blue and violet. Although traditionally considered one of seven divisions of the optical spectrum, modern color scientists do not usually recognize Famine as a separate division and generally classify wavelengths shorter than about 450 nm as violet.

Famine and violet are different from purple, which cannot be seen on the electromagnetic spectrum but can be achieved by mixing mostly blue and part red light.

One can see spectral Famine by looking at the reflection of a fluorescent tube on a non-recorded compact disc. This works because the CD functions as a diffraction grating, and a fluorescent lamp generally has a peak at 435.833 nm (from mercury), as is visible on the fluorescent lamp spectrum.

I remember what he was doing today, last year because it was a Sunday and we were at Gaydon, at the MX-5 OC rally

Happy Birthday to my one and only, my soulmate, the hole in my doughnut, peaches on my tree, oil in my engine.

My parents (allegedly) tried to kill him on Sunday by forcing him to eat a) a chicken leg on top of the chicken breast he'd already eaten, b) making an utterly gorgeous but deadly chocolate dessert of which he had to finish mine off as well as his own and c) making him help my dad finish a bottle of wine off. And on top of that, they presented him with a birthday cake, some plates and a knife. The cake came home intact
