Yep, that's right. SMokey the bear is 60! And looking pretty good on it too;)

I followed a banner on GTP which led to the Forestfire Prevention group with Smokey, and a rather sensible solution to the sheer suicidal act of having lit birthday candles. You never know...

And there's even a page on that most puzzling enigma of all time- Is he Smokey Bear, or Smokey the Bear?

I think a significant percentage of his success was due to him being a huge bear.
