Happy S.A.D. - February 14th 2005!

For many (couples) today is known as Valentine's day...
A day to celebreate with your beloved, between chocolate, gift cards, gifts, sex ;) :D

For a few unlucky (lucky - depending on the point of view) is known as something different - S.A.D.

Today, in my Aircraft Structures II course, in the Aerospace Department, this guy shows up with a red shirt which read - on the front, in thick black letters -

Happy Single Awareness Day

(:D)

On the back - still written with thick black letters -

Happy S.A.D. 👍

So, to all the unlucky (still, lucky - depending on the point of view) b@stards out here that don't have a girlfriend/boyfriend - I wish you all a Happy Single Awareness Day :D

Shouldn't that be "Singles Awareness Day"? ;) Single Awareness Day would imply that there's only one single day of the year when people are aware.
 
I just needed to have someone hold me back from e-mailing Kristen. . .

I wanted to give her a Happy V-Day and thank you for the time you told me to just STFU and do it. . . refering about going back to School for Automotives. Which 1/2 that equation is still in my life, but she is gone. . . I am actually still have a few repercussions from her. . .

Awareness links to the word preceding it, so in this case it means awareness of being single - I think - plus, if that was the case, then it would really need to be Single's - genitive - which usually is referred to a person, not another adjective... so that wouldn't be correct, either.

Either way, if you do a search on Google for these forms:
'single awareness' and 'singles awareness'
you get quite a good number of hits, in both scenarios (the first form gives you the most, as it encompasses all the possibilities: 'single awareness' - 'single's awareness' - 'singles awareness' - and even 'singles' awareness')

On the other hand, if you search for 'single's awareness' - then Google corrects you by asking 'Did you mean: singles awareness

So, I really don't know which one is supposed to be the grammatically correct form...

Heck, don't quote me on this one - this whole thread was just meant to be funny - since I laughed so hard when I saw his shirt :D

Plus, English is not my first language - but I still think that I speak/spell a lot better than most people that have spoken/spelled in English for their whole life...

So true - When I used to have a girlfriend (we almost got married, she was my fiancee - even bought her an engagement ring - the worst $900 spent in my whole life... now there's something to go proud of 👍 :sly: ) I spent more money on her than I did on myself - and that was all-year-round, not just at Valentine's.

Being single has its priviledges - being able to save money/play GT# (<--- insert number of whatever Gran Turismo game you play here) for however long you want/being totally free - these are just a few examples...

Sometimes though, nothing outweighs having somebody else so close in your life...

I know we are all sad because mankind (read that as big corporations) invented Valentine's Day to make money off guys that would buy anthing to their women just to make them happy (and you all know where that ends up going when your woman is happy, don't you ;)) - but please let's not become even more miserable than what we already are ;)

I read a very interesting blurb about v-day in "uncle john's bathroom reader" which basically says that v-day was created to encourage kids NOT to have sex if you can believe it! In roman times, it was customary to take a "pretend" mate for the year, and you could basicaly do anything you wanted to with them that you could do with a mate. When the catholic church gained power, they frowned upon this and invented valentine's day as a substitute, therefore preventing kids from humping and making them send cards instead.

I don't know how accurate it is though, many of the stories I have read in there aren't exactly accurate.
 
Well I joined that singles club a few days ago after having a girlfriend for the past two years, so this Valentine's day blew.

Mine was spent drinking whiskey and Molson XXX on a Monday night, god damn hallmark holidays.
 
I have to add this: after I got done with class, I went and played raquetball with a friend. There were a ton of hot girls there. The girl's volleyball team was also practicing. It was nice. We both got aced a couple times because we were staring out the glass wall. Then I hit my friend in the eye and he wasn't wearing protective eyewear. He had to follow me back to his house because he couldn't see well enough to drive by himself.

Moral of the story: if you're single on v-day, go to the gym and pick up a hottie. Unfortunately, this advice will probably be forgotten by next v-day.
 
It's actually "St. Valentine's Day"...

Anyway, now it's over I'd like February 15th officially recognised as "Black Singles Awareness Day".

And at this point I hope danoff is laughing so hard he nearly swallows his own tongue

I actually went to the fitness center - yeah, my campus is big/cool enough to have one ;) - today, and I chose to go to the swimming pool :D
Now, that's a place where you want to go to see some sweet @ss in action 👍
Don't waste your time on the gym - go to the swimming pool: at least that's the closest you will get to see the hotties naked :sly:
