A friend has a PS3 with not enough gigs to play GT6, can it be done with an external hard drive. Thx

Thanks for the reply, but he has it hooked up to the ps3 already. Is it possible to use the external drive to load and play GT6? Thanks

The PS3 OS doesn't work like the Xbox 360 one does, where you can install programs to the internal hard drive or external hard drive/flash drive and take any one out and hook it up to another system. It works more like that of an Android phone. You can have as much media as you want on any external drives (flash drives, hard drives, SD cars on the early PS3s), but the OS itself only supports loading game data and saves internally. Even hacked PS3 (last I checked, which was admittedly several years ago) don't run homebrew things directly off of external media like the PSP does, but instead trick the system into thinking any external media is the internal media.

@fewzo - Tell your friend to go on ebay & buy a second hand 80gb drive from an old fat PS3. The consoles die of YLOD, but the drives are still good. I've seen them go for anywhere between £0.99 to £19.99, cheap as chips.

thanks for the replies guys, i will get him to go internal. thanks for all your help, much appreciat
