That's not true. In 50% of the seasonal events the ds3 can be as fast as a wheel, in 45% there is a small advantage for the wheel users and only in 5% of the seasonals the ds3 users have no chance.![]()

There is a significant difference if you are using a controller or a wheel. From what I have been reading and comparing the two, steering wheel systems seem to gain anywhere from 2 to 4 seconds average per lap against a controller. A steering wheel is far more precise. You can usually get a feel for how it is going to go within the first two laps of the race and dump the race before you invest too much time and frustration. The most fun I have is in the Beg. and Inter. races because of a greater variety of cars with which to work. To me, race cars are race cars, I can set them so they all drive the same. Production rides unmodified are the most fun because you have to learn their strengths and weaknesses. More challenge that way.
There is not that much time gained with a wheel. I'm not a second faster with the wheel at Laguna Secs. But I am able to string 10 consecutive laps together within a tenth of each other. I cannot get anywhere near that with the sticks. Those consecutive laps help me find those hundredths though. There is a significant difference if you are using a controller or a wheel. Considering the large payouts for these holiday seasonals, they should be more difficult.
Additionally, I didn't have the XJ13 or the Huayra in my garage until I finished those overtake challenges.
I appreciate the challenge, but I'm glad I have a wheel. I used to be pretty good with a DS3 on GT5, but I've been playing GT6 with a wheel since last Christmas. I'm definitely faster with the wheel now, but my DS3 skills have also declined.
Go play driveclub. I promise you a broken controller within an hour. The thing I don't like about the Seasonal challenges is that they are unfair. If I hit a car, I can understand a penalty, but if they hit me, I get the same penalty? You can scrape down the side of a car, no problem, but you can't tap their bumper? They give you a massively powerful car that drives like it's on ice skates, and you can't even touch the wall on a super tight track? They make challenges where you have to use the gas and brake at the same time to maintain down-force? I could go on, and on, and on.
Sometimes I think they forgot about us DS3 users too.
Why? Difficulty? Bad AI?Go play driveclub. I promise you a broken controller within an hour.
A mixture of over zealous AI and an over zealous penalty system. And a badly designed mini-map.Why? Difficulty? Bad AI?
Well said.Seasonal events are just too hard?
I aim for gold anything on Gran Turismo. That calls for changing my driving style, braking points, the feel of the car at hand, and etc. You have to learn how to drive the car, and I'm sorry but if you can't be bothered to learn, then you shouldn't be upset about not achieving gold. You're not going to get it in the beginning, but it takes a lot of practice and repetition to get to your goal.
Now, get out there and try again.
I started using the wheel yesterday but can't manage even reaching bronze in any recent drift trials. I mean I normally get golds. The races are fairly easier but some are still hard.
PD wants to make GT6 players more skillful than other driving simulation. Remember, it's F.I.A. approved simulation racing game ...

.................... I'm pretty much a Pro now....................
Embrace the struggle.
I've been playing GT since 2001 and I'm pretty much a Pro now.
It's a fact that for the most seasonals there is no significant difference between ds3 and wheel. Some people use the ds3 as a excuse for being several seconds slower than the top guys, but in fact they are just not as good as they think.
Did you compete in GTA 2014 and if so where did you finish in rank? That's a good benchmark for me to understand your skill level. Then I can offer up some meaningful advice. Cheers.
Clearly you're not quite as good as you think you are.
The top time is 4.5s quicker than the target time... that's plenty of room for anyone to get gold.
I smashed it all with Golds! Not hard at all. Same with all the GT Academy's.
OK, great, so what was your ranking in GTA 2014? Cheers.
