Hard tyres, why?

You win a car with poke ( just won a Gran Turismo 350Z) and it comes with hard tyres! But surely on shiny tarmac you want soft or medium sports tryes!

Soft tyres in GT5 have too much grip. I stick with Hard/Medium for better feel and more realistic lap times.

This is just speculation, but I think this idea of mine is quite plausible.

Comfort hart tires are the cheaper tires you would by for your car.
Idare say komfort medium tires would be the most used tires in real life day-to-day driving.
Comfort soft tires would be the quite expensive tires you can buy. maybe 200€ per tyre.

The sports hard tires are used on sports/super cars like ferraris, lambos, porsches ...
Sports medium tires may be used in amateur racing or maybe hobby racers.
Acctually I can't come up with a use of sport soft tires in real life, maybe upper class amateur racing.

Race tires are as the name implies used in professional racing.
Race hard tires may be used in semi professional races.
Race medium tires might be used in "lower" class races like F3, DTM, JTGC,Gt ....
Race soft tires are used in the "upper" class races like F1 Nascar.

As I said at the beginning this is just a theory. If someone knows better than me please correct me.

Theoretically hard tyres should give good grip on warmer track temperatures where softs wear out and go off too quick. It would be nice to have a track temperature indicator as this obviously plays a part in the game.

Hard tires will last longer, but I can't justify using them in endurance races. The difference in lap times between sport soft and sport hard is so big, I'd much rather run the softs for half as long, with much better lap times.

Hard tyres should last longer but not in the world of GT5. Hard / Medium / Soft all seem to last the same time.

I dont do that stuff, cant drift and dont want to.

You should learn to though. It`s great fun practicing and when you get a big one right you can`t help but crack a evil smirk and chuckle out loud

I`m not a "drifter" persae but man it`s fun!

I have done it by accident on occasion but Im not into tricks. I just like to drive

The cars come on Sports Hard because that's a good approximation of what they have on in real life.

It'd be great if all cars came on "Sports Soft" in real life, but most people can't be bothered to buy new tires every 1000 miles...
