Just out of curiousity, has anyone finished Race Car Driver ? I tried it after playing alot of GT3, could keep my interest ...what are your thoughts, ideas ?

If by Race Car Driver you mean TOCA/DTM Race Driver then yes.I finished it.It was challenging untill the end thanks to the (supreme to any other game) A.I but i did it.Now i'm working my way thru Race Driver 2.Currently at 89%.

nice..actually, mine does not say TOCA race car driver, just Race Car Driver, with the title character being Ryan McCabe..( or something like that )

This is for x-box right? I saw this under the Playstation 2 thread and just wanted to make sure.

I played Race Car Driver until the last series and then gave up because the car was so hard to master with a ds2.

yeah, that was pretty much the case with me aswell GTJ !

Wasn't it disturbing? To me it was very much so. I mean, you put a lot of effort into finishing a game and the suddenly when you come to the hardest level it's sort of like the difficulty level is increased with 10x.. I hated that game after that. Never touched it since. Sortof the same with the first Driver game, the last mission was totally impossible.

Yeah, I am thinking of bringing it back out till gt4 comes out....I have only brought it out a couple of times when buddies where over, we play two player and run the lenghts of a straight stretch and hit each other...see who can last the longest without flipping over / tire wheel getting knocked off....thats about the interest level it has for me...it ticks me off too casue I paid full price for it when it first came out (Grrr )

PRD is a total piss off. I hated it when I got to the lola championship... But then I restarted, so I can get all the special cars.. well.. i'm stuck in the V8 Supercars league...

Lola championship, yep that's the name of my TRD hate object. Screw codemasters for not giving it a proper check out before releasing it. I bet they were only driving the Lola champ with a wheel. Screw them.

I played it, but I stopped since it was boring. The handling wasn't the best and there was no brake indicator.

I'll admit,i had to get used to the controls of the cars. But after weeks and weeks of driving i got used to it and suddenly it wasn't all that bad.Later on i switched to the PC version and joined a DTM clan/team,we became the E-MTL Champions of 2003,the game is really fun and competitive when you play agains skilled people. That's the only reason why i liked this game, because of the online community. The hardest thing about Race Driver was winning the bonus cars. Some of those cars had awefull(sp?) handling wich made it almost impossible to win.I had to resort to ramming tactics hehe but only during some of those bonus races.

I have to agree that Toca Race Driver had the best AI I have ever seen.......they would slow down if you braked instead of just ramming you.....they would try to overtake and also spin you off the track......they would also do alot of other really realistic things! the AI was just amazing, if GT4 had that kind of AI it would rule.....PD should talk to codemasters! The game was quite hard...after trying the Lola campionship I gave up with it......I kinda didn't bother with race car driver after that, 1. because I only have a PS2 and it is not on that platform anymore and also GT4 is comming out! :)

yes i finished it, it's good, the graphics aren't that exiciting but the gameplay itself is very good.
i am looking forward to see how the 2nd edition do

I loved it! i bought it after exhausting GT3's possibilities. I found it difficult at first after been so used to GT's physics engine, but after a while i got addicted. 20+ cars, with decent A.I. with damage and better 'on-the-limit' handling - its got to be PS2's best racing game

(i love GT3, but only 6 cars on a track at one time is hardly a racing game)
