No, it is not just you, in the PAL release I played at the weekend it didn't work either. Special button used for NOS is greyed out.

Lame bug and very dissapointing. Sorry mate, I was gutted also.

I tell you, this game would be the best GT ever, well the best racing/driving game ever if it done these things:

1. Garage cars in LAN mode
2. 2 player/LAN drag racing
3. NOS in 2 player/LAN (bug)
4. good range of racing front wind splitters
5. better range of rear spoilers
6. no 2D spectators, just keep the 3D ones
7. specify the true power in 2 player memory card battle, at the moment only the stock power is displayed, even if the car has been tuned to increase it's power (bug, actually bug present in GT3 also)
8. Single screen and saveable replay in 2 player/LAN
9. of course the physics, AI, sounds could be better but they're good enough for GT4 and PS2 (PS3 version will definetly need to inprove on those)
10. damage, flippable cars and online is something again best left for PS3

All I can say is that I hope they release a special edition version of GT4 or something that includes the first 8 things, otherwise it'll be such a shame. GT4 is such a work of art in desperate need of that final touch. If only they could patch it like PC games.

Something to remember when I have guest who want to play against me in 2Player .:sly: (Cobra_UK)Maybe the Greatest Hit version since it was not rushed to be release like the first version maybe??

i have to be honest i havnt got that nos problem in 2 player with myne and its the PAL version? so must be some sort of setting you guys use. < jus so you know it is possible to use nos in 2 player

Ahnn...

Is Nitrous Oxide (forget the name NOS, it's a brand) or any other customizations available to 2p races?

I dont think so.

Am i missing someting?

NOS works on 2player on PAL version, on both players! :)

2player garage also works, you can use your own cars, BUT! for some reason the tcs and asm is "off" (on the garage cars), not easy to drive 1000hp cars with tcs off :ill:

I just tested this theory and it's not true.I can use NOS in 2 player with both players. This is in the PAL version.

I do have a question of my own.
Why is the ASM&TSC off whenever i use garage cars in 2P mode? Also,in my game when i play 2 player the track surroundings and sometimes the track itself is low resolution. Is this normal?

Can't say me or my opponent had any problems using nitrious in our upgraded Pandas on the 'Ring yesterday in splitscreen. :sly:

I hate the fact when your playing 2P mode, and your using one of your Garage Cars, you have no ASM and TCS, my 1000hp cars spin like mofos. WHICH SUCKS.

Driving aids are all turned off in my cars, High Powered and/or heavy cars 2WD cars are a bit of a handful but its fun. :) Well most the time...

Instead of NOS how about N02?

No, but N20 is perfectly acceptable.
NOS (pronounced EN-OH-ESS, not NAWZZZZZZZZ aka Fast N' Furious ;) ), ZEX, and Nitrous Express are all *brand names*

Nitrous oxide is a mod which you can add to your car in GT4 👍
Nawzzzzzzzzzzz is something that you laugh at for those who don't know better :D

I have now tried it on 2 old PS2's and one of the new ones also. Still doesn't work.

chrissimis are you sure it works? Maybe you just think it does? If you go to options and check controller 2 you'll see the special button used for nitrous oxide system is blank, is greyed out and can not be changed. Even if the controls are changed to default on that controller it still does not assign a button for it.

Personally I have also noticed the TCS and ASM bug. The problem is also, I'm not so sure these features are off on both players or just player 2. Reason why I'm saying this is because me and some friends tuned up some cars and we found our sweet setup. All cars were FF and we all had similar power and weight. Player 2 never won it was always player 1. And everyone was saying how much harder it was to drive the same car from player 2 slot rather than player 1. Looks like we found another bug then. 👎

Funny thing is that these developers at PD had nearly 4 years to make this game and missed bugs and features and problems I as a player found in 3 gaming sessions. Pathetic. Mind you it's the trend nowadays. So many PC games need patches after patches after patches. Thing is on PS2 you can't patch so it has to be perfect. Very , very sloppy. :yuck:

Well games are a TINY bit more complex these days, and there's about a billion different hardware configs etc.

NOS stands for nitrous oxide system, that is the exact definition. NOS is people's way of typing in short letters what they want to say. People sometimes call a vacuum cleaner a Hoover. Doesn't mean they're stupid and don't know better.

More to the point, N2O is the chemical term for nitrous oxide which on it's own doesn't do anything to the car, it has to be incorporated in a system that makes it work in a car. Hence nitrous oxide system, or some people just type NOS, a bit like "u" instead of "you".

Now be quiet! :sly:

I completely agree with you. However some of these bugs are quite obvious. And also the video games industry makes so much money from us consumers, I guess they need to spend more money on testing...

NOS, Nitrous Oxide Systems, as in the brand name owned by Holley.
http://www.holley.com/nosnitrous/index.html

You can call a vacuum a Hoover, or a tissue a Kleenix, or a bicycle a Schwinn all you want, but it would still be innaccurate. :)

And you can type "u" instead of "you" and and it will still be completely irritating, not to mention violating the Terms of Service of this bulliten board ;)

Perhaps they should add "NOS" to that list also 👍

Like Werks says that's nazi. You see HoWheels there is this thing called democracy. In democracy people have freedom of speech. So if people use whatever they see fit to express themselves, IT'S OK. 💡 Providing there is no swearing or personal attacks people are allowed to use their way of putting their point across. You know he was talking about a nitrous oxide system so just drop it because you're starting to get on my nerves and taking the thread off-topic. :grumpy:

On-topic anybody else tried to test the NOS option in 2 player race? How about TCS and ASM? Everybody is talking about Forza and what they'd like in GT5 but if we can determine if this is a bug, PD may do something about it. That's the kind of support PD needs to help us gamers, not a "million" page thread with a "million" cars that we'd like in GT5...

Errr if I remember correctly you can choose if you want to have N2O enabled for Arcade mode or not somewhere in the options screen. Some goes for ASM and TCS I think...
Maybe Im just imagening stuff, but i can't check atm since im at work :(

I am able to use NOS for both players in 2 player mode, and I have read that to enable TCS/ACM, you have to first load an arcade car, turn the settings on and then click on change car and select your car from the garage - that trick works fine for me

Thanks for the reply mate, may I ask you to go in controls and see if in the buttons for the 2nd controller the "special button" for NOS is greyed out? If it's not perhaps there is a trick around that which me and my friends have not figured out yet. I'd really appreciate it.

EDIT: MailMan can you please check when you get home mate?
