Hey I know you can borrow the GT Academy cars, has anyone tried doing the "borrow trick" to keep them? Just wondering if this works? I might try it on my second ps3 later to see if it works, i will have to do this to get the 370Z tuned Academy unfortunately :( .. but if anyone has already tried it please let me know! Thanks, Jake-

I doubt that it works. It didn`t work with GT-R SpecV (GT Academy SPECIAL). So I guess same here.

The "Tuned" cars can be sent. Try to get one in the marketplace.

They don't get release for 3 more weeks.. 2012 GT academy cars.. I got all gold except I got silver in last round and was out of town until
after it ended so i didn't get the chance to make it back and finish :(
 
I'm sure people on your friends list are thrilled.
 
Ah, the Academy 2012 cars aren`t sendable/giftable. And if don`t get them through PD you won`t get them at all.
At least you can borrow them.

Well mr informative... If you had read the original post GT Academy is over.. I was out of town when it ended... And as far as your smart comment about my friends list, I do nothing but help people constantly, anyone on my friends list has a real friend that has given them not only any free thing from GT5 they like but helped them tune and had good laughs with me.. I'm sorry your Mr. Illiterate Negative Nancy.. But I have a feeling your just one of them little kids that like to pop up randomly and try to start crap on blogs.. So this will be my last response to you, enjoy being unwanted and lonely-

As for illiterate, you have no clue who I am or what I do. So please try to keep your personal insults to yourself.

Also I stand by my post about your friends list, if you were on mine you would be removed without a seconds thought. Did you know for instance, that when you perform this "trick", that the person on the other end loses his/her car? If you did then you either don't care, or you and the other person have sorted a trade out, which is fine, or the other person is duping, which isn't (IMO).

It gets on my last nerve that people like you think that they are entitled to something without doing anything to earn it. PD should make these cars untradeable and fix the "trick" (glitch). So people who decide that corner cutting is the right way to earn things have no other way of gaining prizes.

Also I have never seen you in the giveaway thread, so for you to say that you do your bit for the community is complete crap.

I have all of the GT Academy cars that has been released so far on share on my alt. account. I have no problem shareing these cars to help people out. But, rest assured, if any of my shared cars come up missing because of this "borrow glitch" cheat, the program will stop right there. All my cars will come off share and you all can figure out a different way to do these events. I have went out of my way, posting in several different threads, to help people out who don't have these cars. But, if you start stealing from me, the free ride stops there. Just a warning to all the cheaters out there.

Not sure as I don't partake in those types of cheating activities. I just posted what I did in case it does still work and my cars start coming up missing. Thinking about it more, I'm thinking of just taking my cars offline anyway just to be on the safe side. Don' feel like having my cars ripped off by some low life theif.
 
I did some research and it appears the glitch is very much alive. I will reveal neither the sources nor the method as this will only enable the opportunist(s) to capitalize on our compassion. I'm sorry, but due to this discovery and the fact I put lots of time into GT Academy, my cars will not be on share. Thanks.

What he is doing is fine. You on the other hand are trying to force your views on other people for I don't know what reason. Earning is worthless, it isn't good, it isn't right. If you want to do it, it's fine. If you don't it's equally fine.

Thanks my friend for researching this. Looks like this is the end of my kindness also. All of my cars will be coming off share now also. I put alot of time into the Academy and don't feel like losing my prizes to this cheat and the low lifes that use it. Thanks again my friend for taking the time to investigate this matter. Peace.

The mere fact that 2 people have stopped sharing their cars due to this "trick" should tell you that it isn't right. Stop short cutting and mooching off the rest of us who actually earn the cars we have in our virtual garages.

Which they can't. Their cars are in their gamesave. Borrow glitching does not involve their gamesave, just the game data file of the person doing the borrowing. Their gamesave isn't modified so they won't lose their cars. Saying they can - with no evidence, of course - is scaremongering.

People will believe almost anything. Things like this are why I share my DLC cars... you can look, but you can't touch.

Whether it's considered "duping" or not is immaterial. The game provides a facility to back up your game data to external media and if you're diligent about using it, nothing in game has to ever be lost or stolen.
Period.

In general, and especially in the online world, a good rule to use is "never loan anything you don't want to live without.". :censored:holes are everywhere. If there weren't, how would the folks who aren't, know they aren't? ;)

Apparently one may still be able to get trophies and cars from Academy.. not sure if just a rumour?
 
Ok, as Famine was kind enough to explain to me, I still have my backup USB which I use every night. Totally forgot about that option when was being told of the possibility of losing a car that can't be replaced. All is fine now and cars will go back on share.
And no, you can't win these cars anymore as the Academy is over. That I do know, lol.

Giving the X1 you "earned" from the V Challenge away to people who couldn't win it is mooching? Then I'm guilty.

Two people reacting to your false claims has nothing to do with how right it is. As long as people don't interfere with others, they can do what they want.

I am sure most of us have "traded" at least a couple of cars or gear at some point. Same thing, it wasn't "earned" but no one gets chastised for it in fact there is a whole forum subsection devoted to it. I personally have never borrow glitched anything, but I could care less if others do, I don't get the high and mighty attitude about it?

Like I said, I have never had a problem sharing cars to help others out. I do it all the time in the Time Trials thread. I just became alarmed at the possibility of losing these irreplaceable cars. I like helping others when I can. If everyone thought the way of the poster the started this panic, the world would be a very cruel place.
 
Wow I've been at a funeral for the last 4 hours, I like to thank everyone for their support and for clearing things up for some people :) and a special thanks to Famine! It feels damn good when he's on your side! :D ..but people that know me, I have earned everything, I have NEVER done this borrow trick because I have never had a need for a car that was unobtainable! If I try it, it will be the first time I've done it personally! I know that I have had people request certain color X1's and the 2010 Prototype for me to put on share so they could get them with this trick. I HAVE NOT LOST ANYTHING! So thanks again to all the help and advice! Take care everyone! ~almost everyone~ 0.o

Even without people who think this way the world is a very cruel place. If you doubt the veracity of this claim take a tour. On this tour visit any Children's Hospital, Cancer Ward/Center, tornado/hurricane/earthquake, etc. disaster site, third world country without basic sanitation facilities and tyrannical gov't, then come back and tell me it's not.

Yes there are good, non-cruel people and places in the world, but going on a tour such as described might put a little perspective on losing an "irreplaceable" batch of 0s and 1s, which I would argue, is in no way, shape or form irreplaceable, even without the backup facility. Although, getting it replaced, if a GTA prize car was indeed lost, would probably take more time than earning it did.
