Another brief thread, Has GT changed something in your life?
I mean something you learned in the game that you apply to your driving life?
A maneuver in the game that has actually saved your life?
Or do you use it to relieve stress?

I'm doing some research, your opinion could be really handy.

gt5 for me is a time to kick back and just relax. but also its kinda funny playing gt5 (and other GT games) has made me respect not just the big super car brands but the small every day cars too showing me every brand has their history.
LOOOL saving me from a accident NO had my first accident a few months back (Im 19) i spun my car off a wet roundabout in Richmond (UK, Surrey) at 2:30am no one was on the road( NOT and excuse though, im still an idiot) insurance didn't cover me because my tires were below legal grip :grumpy: now i have to pay £3,500 for a new axle and wishbones (cars Coming out next week :) ) :ouch: never driving stupid ever again..... time to practice thoughs wet weather races on gt5 LOOOL

GT4 pretty much got me into cars. Before that I knew just the big names (Ford, Toyota etc.) and had but a faint idea of the history of the car and racing. It also helped me understand the tuning of cars with the descriptions as well as playing around and seeing the results.

Best do more practise on GT with the tire wear turned on. :).

For me it changed the kids toy room into a games room for my evenings gaming. :)

I learned that games developers to all sorts of odd lengths to sample car sounds; we're talking some odd animals, boats, vacuum cleaners, powertools etc o_O

This thread is just begging Lucas Ordoñez, Jordan Tresson, Brian Heitkotter, and Jann Mardenborough to come in and explain how GT changed their lives.

I've learnt how much of a pain in the butt understeer is.

And especially now that i have a g27 wheel I have a whole new respect for just how hard drifting is now that im not just flicking the joystick around.

Is there any way to call Lucas Ordoñez, Jordan Tresson, Brian Heitkotter, and Jann Mardenborough ??? C'mon peole, some more feedback
EDIT.- please :sly:

Gran Turismo has changed my driving in real life. Nowadays I find myself applying the "outside-inside-outside, slow in fast out" technique anywhere I can, even if I'm just going to the grocery store. I also catch myself reaching for the non-existent paddle shifters on my automatic ford pickup truck.

 I thought i was the only one. Good to know it. And well maybe with that "driving line" save you some GAS:idea:

It has changed my relationship with my girlfriend, she thinks i play to much.
I tell her she is wrong.

Yes, it made me put Nurburg at the top of my list of places to travel to. Hopefully I will spend a few days there sometime in the future.

GTForever, below legal grip? Seriously? I've never heard that from an insurance.

yeah when you sign the insurance agreement the one thing that you agree to is looking after your tires (of course) and if the insurance think an accident happens because of lack of grip on your tires they will not payout. but it was silly your talking a couple millimeters, but still i was stupid anyway it was a 40mph road and I took the turn to fast (in the wet) over steered out tried to correct it and just did a full 180 and went up one the pavement.

I find this as well. A friend commented the other day how I was apexing all corners. I didn't even realise that I do it. I also find my reaction times are better in traffic.

I have large racing cockpit in living room :)
I is hard to say what else but maybe I am more interested in cars in general. Also I will buy a sports car maybe partly because my experiences with GT.

Dude, £3,500 for an axle and wishbones? You are being ripped off there! Are they all being made from carbon fibre or something? Get down the scrap yard for an axle, wilk cost you a few hundred at best! Wishbones should be about the same brand new from motor factors

As for GT changing my life, well, I tend to find my self doing the out-in-out technique on corners, and learning how left foot braking feels

Greater appreciation of cars and a much more technical understanding of what it takes to take a car to the track. As a result of only 2 years of play (1.8 yrs for GT4 and 3 months for GT5) I am building a Track Day car. Initially I was going to trade in on the new 3 series as I do with every iteration but now I will hang on to my 330D and instead build up a track car ...happy days! :sly:

Well...I certainly take corners now faster than your average Joe :P.

Aside from that...probably the realization that low-power cars are JUST as fun as Ferrari's, etc.

sorry didn't mention labor and also storage :( that racks the price right up

Those driving tests in GT3 helped me a LOT in real life. Improved my real life autocross and road track times for sure. Helped me learn better braking points, and the proper way to enter and leave the apex of each turn.
