Have manufacturers dropped out of the VGT project?

I think this is once again a "plausible" situation.

Anytime a company is looking to scale back, adjust budget, increase profit etc the first things that get cut are frivolous programs like this.

We've already seen Bertone go down and who knows if that VGT will be added. In addition we haven't heard or seen anything about the others that are supposed to appear.

It makes me wonder if the manufacturers have dropped out of the project on PD. It could of course also simply be that they aren't ready yet.

Personally I couldn't really care less about fictional cars as I tend to dislike them but at the moment it would still be something new that we don't currently have.

Possible, but I don't think so. It's not like PD were like, "Hi, friend(s). Would you like to design a car for my game?" Meaning, the manufacturers likely would have had obligations or stipulations put forth onto them for business purposes, obviously, and it wasn't some nonchalant idea with no value behind it.

If only it mattered that we cared or not. If we all did care, maybe Porsche would have been in GT for years now.

The Vision GT project isn't entirely meant for us. I see it as a bonus, but it is really strange that it's been so long since Mercedes-Benz released their's months ago with no one else stepping in or PD not revealing their cars yet. I mean, PD could or couldn't have released both versions of the Mercedes VGT in one go. That's an answer I would like to know.

PS
I don't really care for the "fictionalized" X2000 cars, but the more realistic ones (fan-less) are really cool, plus that kart Kaz had Newey whip up for the game. I didn't see that coming. That's still not to say that the more "fictional" X2000 cars are a waste.

....

This is true but the contracts could be bound to a minimum sold GT6 copies. VGT is advertising so you want to make sure you can reach a large enough audience with it. This is just speculation of course but not impossible.

Nobody is stopping you creating threads that are optimistic or full of joy. Maybe there aren't many of those because there isn't much for people to be optimistic about. Someone created a 'PD must be doing something awesome' thread before 1.05 came out, look how that turned out.
If you don't like these threads, than why are you replying to them?
Just because I disagree with the OP doesnt mean I should not argue and disagree, I think?

PD is slow in everything they do but they usually deliver. I think we should wait a bit more for the new Vision GT models.

You didn't answer the question posed by the OP though, you ironically complained because it was a compliant thread (even though it wasn't).

How long exactly? I'm sure you're aware there are 27 left to release and they've done one in three months.

But still, wasn't there supposed to be like 27ish of them? Year has 12 months and we are at the end of the 3rd and we have only 2 cars which are both pretty much the same car. I expected to see about 2 cars a month trough the year but current average is more like 1 every 3 months.

Unless they are intending to release bunch of them at once.

Aren't some sketches already done? I think it's PD taking their time creating the cars from scratch / 2 cents

Well sketches are a long long way away from anything PD can use. PD won't be doing the cars from the sketches. The whole design process that follows the sketches is done by the manufacturers.

Yes but the design of the car atleast is already settled, I have no idea what time it takes to render the sketches into something PD can model but I wouldn't think it's the most time consuming process of the lot.

Maybe they saw pd didn't put interiors in the mercedes, and manufacturers demanded that, for a vgt of their brand be in the game, it must be complete...

Never really cared much about the VGT cars, especially after the cockpit less Mercedes. I rather have content of substance like real cars and more tracks. But most importantly, better sounds and features promised prior release.

Although I couldn't care less if VGT was cancelled or not, I must admit it would be rather awkward and it won't look good for PD. This is were communication would come in valuable.

I personally don't mind if there's no more Vision GTs, but it would be nice. Also it takes a long time to make cars, even fake ones. Also maybe low sales have to do with this also.

Yet another complaints and pessimism thread. Lol
I wasn't considering it a complaint or pessimism thread as much as contemplation.

I guess I can see your point though.

Honestly there just isn't really much to talk about these days in the GT6 realm other than speculation.

Trust me, nobody will be on the PD cheerleader bandwagon faster than me the next time we hear some good news from them 👍

Hell I might get on it if it looks like they are about to say something, anything... if Kaz just tweeted the words "Gran Turismo 6" I might :dunce:

Yo know what? I dont get why people have to be either a "PD cheerleader" or a "PD hater".
Im not fully satisfied about what GT6 has so far (I think no one is), but that doesnt mean I have to be complaining and whining all the time like a lot of people seem to do.

PD doesn't control the release of VGT cars. It's up to the manufacturers to complete and unveil their cars. PD is not the driving force on this one, they are held in limbo by the car companies themselves. Sorry guys, you can't blame PD for this one.

No, instead you just go around finding anyone with a complaint/negative thought about the game and tell them they're wrong in some way or another.

I think a couple of answers given here are quite probable, the best one being poor sales. Manufacturers may've just lost interest in the project and retasked their designers, who they have to pay, to actually important projects. Also, I add to the sentiment against fictional cars. Come on Kaz, your guys already take their damn sweet time modelling stuff so the least you can do is task them with modelling cars WE ACTUALLY WANT AND THAT ARE REAL. It's pointless having these fictional cars beyond a really small sample of them kept there for "Oh, imagine this!" purposes. How about a Supra MkIV like people have been asking for since GT5? Or a premium Toyota LMP to use against the R18 TDi? Or, *insert whatever the community has been asking for long enough time"?

Want to celebrate GT's 15th Anniversary? Why don't, I don't know, poll your customers on 15 REAL cars they think are most representative of the GT "spirit" and adding them to the game? Wouldn't that add better content, involve less parties and keep the community more satisfied?

I disagree. The manufacturers make some sketches, 3D models for PD to scan and ask their sound engineers to remix some engine noises with Hoover noises and send all that to PD. PD is the one responsible for scanning, modelling virtually and eventually adding the car to the game. Sure, the amount of time taken by the manufacturer is anyone's guess at the moment, but if we add to that time PDs pretty "We take 6 months per car...".
