Has the H shifter always been this unrealistic?

I just upgraded my wheel to a G27 and was trying out the manual transmission in many cars. I understand the shifting technique in the game (clutch all the way in, gas off) but what bothers me is that misshifting makes the car go in nuetral when it is in gear. This is not even closely realistic because in real life misshifting the car causes it to twitch but it goes in gear, not nuetral. I tried games like R factor and the H shifter is way more realistic, always going into gear and twitching when doing something wrong. With all the updates GT5 has had, has the H shifter always been this bad?
 
yes it has...it has confused me and pissed me off...but in the end maybe you should learn to drive stick and not blame it on the game

I do drive manual in real life and this is nothing like it! I guess I'll have to get used to it.
