Have you ever forgotten to brake?

So while I was doing my FGT championship, I was comfortably in the lead and it started to get a bit boring... started to wonder about other things. And all of a sudden, I realise that I'm way past the braking point and heading for the wall at 300km/h :dopey:

Yes, during the Suzuka circuit 1000 KM.
My favourite circuit, but very boring to do 1000 KM on any circuit.

When I was side by side with Rotary Junkie down the main straight of Fuji. We got so into our little drag race (C63 vs RS6 doing well over 200mph) that we forgot to brake for the first corner!

Happens all the time to me on the ring. I'll be flying down a straight and get distracted by something eg the road markings and before I know it im in the barrier.

The ring is by far the most visual appealing track in gt5 so I get distracted when I see something new.

I pulled an all nighter, and at 8AM I did the Tsukuba 9 hours. Being up for over 28 hours that didn't go well, I forgot I was playing the game and fell asleep and fell off my chair..

Haha that's not just forgetting to brake that's forgetting how to sit. I bow down to the master lol.

Did you win?

I've done it countless times in various racing games. It's usually when I'm under pressure from somebody behind me and I'm too busy watching the mirrors. I'll concentrate on trying to keep whoever is behind me to stay there, to the degree where I lose focus of where I want to brake. I've been playing racing games and sims for over 10 years - you would have thought I would have learnt by now!

Many many times. Fuji would be the worst place for me. I'm not sure if I forget to brake or simply can't be bothered because it's such an awful track. Just fly off into the sand at the end of the long straight.

Nice Day,
Guys who always braked means they're lacking of guts & confidence on corners, while those guys who forget to brake often gives themselves to override the driving limit. Better learn from Juan Manuel Fangio boys!

I've found myself on the clutch thinking, 'damn, my brakes have broken!'

Yeah, I "forgot" to brake at final corner in Laguna Seca in American Car Championship in 2nd place on the final lap! I ploughed my Oreca Viper into the leading Chaparral!

I have a 458 Italia and I used it in La Festa Cavallino. There are two Enzos amongst the competition and I have to keep one of them behind me at all costs.

Now Monza is a fast track, just not when you overshoot your braking point in the one non-chicane slow corner and stuff it like a WRC driver.

After completing the Red Bull X2010 challenge, I went for a drive on the 'Ring in a Nissan GT-R, and in the first corner I went full speed into the barrier. It took a while after that to get used to using the brakes again, since that wasn't really necessary with the X2010.

I've also accidently pressed the clutch a few times too.

Forgot to brake at the Daytona Road Course, coming off the oval onto the road part of the course. Hit the barrier wall so hard the car flew far up into the air, then landed on its roof. Got the Rollover Trophy for that one. Still managed to pull it all together and win the race, though, but the impact was so unexpected I actually gasped when it happened.

Yea, a lot of times. I was on the Nurburgring on arcade in a new car, and I was just day dreaming, and I just ran into two corners full speed without realising.

lol

If you haven't forgotten to brake at *some* point, you're not pushing hard enough.

The sign that you're pushing hard enough to win is when you *occasionally* get that thrill of terror from "Oh, $#!t, I'm a hundred meters past my braking point for a first-gear corner at top speed." It's when this happens regularly that you need to consider pulling back... ;-)

On many occasions I've been so busy stuffing cookies into my mouth, whilst going along a track's main straight, only to finish picking the crumbs off my top and look up at the TV to see I'm past the braking point and in the zone where it's physically impossible to get the car round the corner, whilst staying on track, in the direction you're supposed to be going...

For some reason very late at night, my brain thinks the straight on Tokyo goes on forever. Sadly it doesnt, and the loud 'tud' from my sub will wake you back up.

the corner at le sarthe where it suddenly goes 90 right after a longish straight(not the mulsanne)

Often forget to brake, especially on longer races when I'm ahead. The other night I was doing the Grand Valley endurance race and kept drifting off. Sometimes I'd end up in the gravel, but a lot of the time I'd go onto autopilot a drive a couple of laps, "wake up", then wonder how I was still on the track.

It's totally different for me online though, I want to be clean and usually crash because I'm watching my mirrors too much so I can get out of the way of the person lapping me.

I always seem to consistently miss the braking point on the first corner of the Nurburgring GP Course:banghead:

I always find that one difficult doing it with different cars.
Took me :dopey: ages to get the Elise11R a bit fast through that one.

However, yes crashing :scared: after missing a breaking point is traditionally a sign of loss of concentration. It happens. Not very often, but it does happen.:grumpy:

Definitely. I did it at Trial Mountain in that last corner and S-curve. First one I just straight up forgot to brake trying to catch the lead car. Not a pretty sight as my car went rolling at least 8-10 times down the track. Same with that s-curve, I missed my braking point and when I did tap them, they grabbed just enough to send my car partway up the mountain there. Made it 3/4 of the way down the straight there before it stopped rolling.
