Have you learned to love the Nordy?

I drive about 10 laps daily around this track in GT5, and I am discovering pleasure in taking any car from the garage that I have neglected all year, and giving it a quick tune, and heading out for a good aggressive lap. There are still corners that seem almost impossible to tune properly for, but that is forgiveable from the relaxing time I have at driving any 450 - 750 pp car.

If I look at myself at how I attack certain sections today, than I did half a year ago, it's like practicing an instrument daily, you say to yourself, no way in hell did I ever think I could do this ! You'll get there eventually.

Sub 4:50s in F1 2007, Sub 5:52s in Nissan GTR35-TC , both self tuned and with no ABS either.

do all of yourselves a favor, make sure you turn off the driving line, and set your own mental points of slowdown and attacks. Best learn to take those risky areas "safely" than to be "sorry", this way you can learn to better improve from a better approach.

p.s if someone can recommend me good street cars, in 450pp / 500 / 505 / 550 pp, I'd be very grateful to your suggestions. Forget LFA and Italia, I already know...

At first I hated it, just because I didnt understand it, or its significance was when I was a teenager. It was only after trying over and over the license test in the 190E that I realized "Hey, this track is pretty fun". And from then on I was hooked.

I used to take the GT4 FGT around for hours trying to perfect my lap time. To this day I still remember the best I could do was 5:31, with 3 little mistakes. I bought a DFGT and setup just to master that track.

7 years later I still have the same setup, but with a G27, and drive the ring about everyday. Most things have changed since I lived with mommy and daddy, but GT is still a big part of my life. Without the north course, Gran Turismo just wouldnt be the same for me.

When I ask myself if entering this GT5 world was a good idea, considering all pros and cons, I think about the Nordschleife and the answer is: yes it was.

Hi, my name is 1COGTfiend and I'm a Nordschleifeaholic. I hated the 'Ring in GT3. Started to give it's day in the sun during GT4. By the time I had pretty much stopped playing GT4 and now into GT5 I love it

I hated it at first because I didn't know how to drive, and because I didn't know the track. Now that I have learned to drive, and learned the track, I freakin love it!

You bet I love it. There is a lot of history there. But, I love lots of things that I keep at a distance. It's a great and storied track, but if I don't have to drive it, I won't. The shorter Nurburgring track is a lot of fun, though.

Nurb is great to drive by yourself, but a train wreck to race at because its tight and hard to pass clean. I prefer wider tracks with clear passing zones online.

no I don't like the ring it all looks the same and 1 mistake throws away a race/time trial whatever and restarting after driving for 5 minutes is not ideal. I am level 40 A spec too, I still hate the ring and avoid it like the plague.

I used to detest the Nurburgring. Now I really like it, though I still have plenty of room to improve on it.

The change of heart for me came when I finally ran the 24 hour enduro. Ran it with the X1 so I could get it over with faster. Funny though, it's no fun running the X1 if you're crashing on every turn, so I was forced to learn the track. Running it at night in the X1 becomes mesmerizing after a while. By the end of the enduro, I was really enjoying the laps.

Of course, the X1 didn't really teach me how to drive it in a "normal" car, but it did help me memorize the track.

It is a great track. I agree that it can be tough to get that awesome lap on. To me it is all part of the challenge. It amazes me how much time I can spend shaking down cars and practicing against my ghost on it though.

I love it. I have definitely logged thousands of laps from it because i started racing it in forza 2 then 3 and the gt4 and gt5. I know the line for every corner, the turns themselves and every bump. Its the greatest track in existence besides targa florio

I hated it the first time when I played it on GT4 because its hard to overtake, the bumpiness on the track and its friggin long to complete one lap. Now it's become one of my all time favourite tracks because its challenging, and difficult to master.

Once you learn the track, Nurb is not long at all. It's just that all the other tracks in the world are too short. There's nothing better than doing hotlaps with a Yellowbird with SH tires.

It's taken nearly a year, but now I actually love flying around Nord... er... (can't spell the rest).

When I first got the game I just could not get the hang of it. I spent most of my time spinning around after touching the grass, or whacking into another car trying to overtake on those very narrow lanes. It was really, really frustrating.

It held me up getting various championship wins in A spec. After several months, I "cheated" and used the Red Bull.... I could get a place or even a win, even though I would be bouncing off just about everything.

I took some advice from posters on here, and started off in really slow cars, and gradually built up.

Now, for the last couple of weeks, I choose it over Trial Mountain, my favourite, for the sheer fun of the drive.

It's taken a long time, but it's gone from being my most hated track, to one of my favourites.

Anyone else in a similar position?

I couldn't even measure up how long the Nurburgring was when I first took a license test on the track in GT4... My first impression on the Ring was that it was so a narrow circuit that I lost most of my confidence in going around the track without any of the mistakes intended to be regarded as a disqualification of the test... A place where bitterly tests my self-boldness of being agressive and accurate in time trial in which even a tiny scrap of fear could be considered to be a fetter toward improving my driving skill on the track...

On the other hand, the Ring was something that instructed me how it was arduous and longtime to become a prestigious driver fully appreciated by anybody else around me. Therefore, as I make progress in the driving on the track, it always stood beside me as a guidance that provided the barrior I had to overcome each time...

As well as it's eminent to us as the world's longest track, it's also known as one of the severest circuits in the world, but I think it's one of the tracks worth for trying out to inspire yourself to be better.

I believe that's "jealous"...lol.

Great track to drive on for hotlapping, crap track to race on. By far the most highly overrated, most overused track for online racing.

Thx for that mate ;-) well, are you at least jealous? At least say yes! Since I drove on the track about 65 times my head is not so up to date anymore...despite the fact I just think in gears anyway, even when I walk

I had to learn to love this track. Hated in it GT4, hated it when I first got GT5. However, I preserved at the AMG challenge and now I can set fast laps there in low to medium powered cars. I'm not all that into race cars, I lack the finesse required to keep the beasts in check, speaking of which...

p.s if someone can recommend me good street cars, in 450pp / 500 / 505 / 550 pp, I'd be very grateful to your suggestions. Forget LFA and Italia, I already know...

I have a 405PP street car that turned out to be an absolute demon on this track. It was originally designed as a rally car, but part of the brief was that it worked on snow, gravel and tarmac. If you haven't got one in your garage, send me an FR and I'll share mine...
