Have you ran on all the tracks?

What pleasant surprises have you got?

I had only played A-Spec races so far, no special events or such.
I was doing some time trial practicing earlier and decided to checkout some tracks I'd never played.
One thing I had yet to do was play any dirt or snow courses.
So I went loaded up "Eiger Norwand K Trail", since I knew I like the road course there.
Holy mother of God!!
First off, it starts you on an incline slope.
I got a phone call, and just left the car sit.
I look over and see the car slowly backing down the hill.
30 seconds later and it is careening down a dirt hill still gaining speed!
This thing went backwards down a hill forever, so I knew it would be good.
When I finally got to do a few laps, I was shocked how I had missed out on such an awesome piece of GT5 until now.
The track is 5 miles of the wickedest twists, turns, elevation changes, dirt to asphalt changes, you have seen.
It reminds me of the Nurburgring in it's complexity and learning curve.

I am now going to put aside my A-Specing until I have got a chance to run laps on every single course in the game.

Any other great ones I should check out sooner, rather than later?

Oh, and I've never been a fan of dirt, so if you are the same way, don't let it stop you, this course will convert you into a wanna-be rally driver!

I adore the full Cape Ring, there is something pleasantly relaxing and enjoyable about it, think it may be the smoothness of the track and corners.

Hopefully in the next month(ish) I should be getting a full sim rig and wheel set-up and I can imagine just cruising around London and Madrid and possibly THE RING at reasonably street legal speeds using clutch and H Shifter!

I'm not sure where I read this, but apparently Kaz has been thinking of making a free roam mode where I can do just this, hopefully without the restrictions of the barriers and rumble strips at every corner. I would love it!

Yeah, he said he wanted to make a free roam mode where everyone follows street rules

Yeah, right, I can really see everyone following the rules, like everyone races fair, trades fair and doesn't ever take any short cuts.

It won't happen, there's always someone who wants to spoil the party, free roam would be carnage and also a perfect opportunity for those who like to spoil the party to have a time of their lives.

In GT5 prologue - how many people cut corners online or just rammed people off the road??

It was so obvious at Fuji, but in all the time we were racing at Fuji, they never did anything to stop the shortcut. What about the Subaru bug, everyone knew about it, it ruined 650pp racing online at intermediate level, nothing was done about that aswell.

Free roam is a fantastic idea, but fatally flawed, you just can't trust 100% of people to behave themselves, just look in real life - how many crazy drivers are out there, far too many.

Not racing, just driving around like in real life.

I think what Highlandor means is, it'll be meant for driving around at correct speed limits etc, but there will always be A'holes who ruin it for everyone. I completely agree that idiots will ruin it, but I wasn't even thinking about the online aspect of it, just the enjoyment of cruising around on my own or maybe with AI drivers and PSN friends.

Thank you, that was my point. 👍

:)

I wouldn't like any automated system to kick me if I speed, nor would I want speeds to be capped by the game, I may want to give it a short blast every now and again or a small fun fishtail around a corner, nothing silly like hitting 150mph between the lights.

I'd also like to see a drag racing mode online/between friends to test out 1/4 miles etc, bit like GT3/4 where you had the Vegas Strip.

Sorry for the hijacking of this thread, kinda went a bit off topic.
