On some cars I cant use the h-shifter like the supra rz. What can I do to resolve this problem? Should I change the tranny from a dog clutch to a six speed transmission? Someone help!

Someone will come along with the full explanation shortly I'm sure, but it has to do with original vs. upgraded transmissions as in works with one and not the other...I think.

I had that problem as well, and I chalked it up to the transmission enhancement essentially upgrading it to a sequential/paddle shift transmission, as they shift faster.

If you still haven't figured it out, it basically comes down to whether the car is Standard or not, I have not driven one standard car that I can use my Clutch and H on. No matter what you do to the Trans(Save yourself the money)

As for all premium cars, it will vary. Some don't allow clutch and the H Pattern Shifters on the fact that the car uses Paddle shifters. Most of the premium can be shifted manually like that, its just depending on how new they are(In regards to if they use paddles), and whether they are an EV or not as well.

Cars with flappy paddles still work with the H shifters on the G27 as long as the transmission is standard.
Maybe not all, but I have come across a few that do.

Yikes! Maybe it's something with your wheel? I've owned very few premium cars and have been able to use the clutch with all my rides, except some of those that have sequential gear boxes. I am using the factory tranny.

Using the factory you can, but upgrading to fully customizable. It doesnt allow you to.

Right. Sorry, I misread your last post. I thought you were having trouble with any trans upgrades. I've used the close ratio 5 and 6 speeds without losing clutch function. Your spot on about the fully customizable.

The Falken GT-R '04 and the Zexel GT-R '01 allow you to use the H-shifter and they're both standards, so it works sometimes. It's still a crapshoot finding a standard with a fully customizable transmission that allows you to use the H-shifter.

On the other hand, the Mercedes C9 (a premium) doesn't allow me to use the H-shifter, but I'm not sure if that car came with a sequential or not.

EDIT -- check that, the C9 came with a 5 speed manual per a web search.

Well Guys,
Ya gotta think about it. If you switch to the customizable racing transmission with a dog clutch shifter, you basically have a motorcycle transmission. There is no way for this type of transmission to go from 4th gear to 1st gear without going through 3rd and 2nd gears. That is why the H pattern shifter should NOT work with this type of transmission. It is the nature of the beast, that said, you can downshift/upshift a lot faster with the paddles (or pedal in the case of a bike) than you can with an H pattern shifter.
Cheers, Pete

You get H pattern "dog boxes", too. The only difference is that the shifter forks are moved by a rotating drum in a fixed pattern for sequentials, and individually by the stick in an H pattern. The clutch is still useful, necessary even, with the sequentials. That is not reflected in the game.

Robotised manuals have the forks moved by servo-mechanical means, and are therefore very different in operation to either normal H patterns or motorcycle gearboxes. The clutch is usually not manually operated, and you tend to get throttle cut, too.

This is how GT treats all gearboxes when playing in "sequential" mode, i.e. the way GT has always been.

There are hints that PD are looking to expand the range of functionality in the gearbox models. They already have a distinction with some of the dual clutch type boxes, i.e. the H pattern can be used to directly select a gear (weirdly), but the clutch does nothing - they also "creep". The gear changes are more slurred, rather than the disjointed rev matching you usually get.

Hopefully PD get around to completing that work sometime soon.
