xbox?, my pc you mean?
Hi there,

I was having trouble with launches, but i've found an easy way to get reasonable launches evertime. Never a great launch, but always a reasonable one. If not for sharing info like this, what is the forum for ?

- At the countdown, just select second gear and apply full throttle nearing the 0.
At the race start, your engine will rev overtime, the pitch of the engine sound will slowly go down a bit, to go up again.
As it goes up again, select 3rd gear and continue as normal.

It's probalby not the 'golden egg', but it helps me, and may help others.

Rgds,

I get great starts. I don't know but watching launching videos from real life helped me A LOT!

just using second and some throttle control usually works. Some cars need 1st though like the Amuse/Opera often does.

Hi Biggles,

It seems to depend the car, and perhaps more important the PP.

I get success with this technique in the 750 PP races, i'm not so sure it works well on the 600PP races (so good question, i failed to mention this !).

Dragonistic seems to find differences/car and i guess it has to do with the drivetrain (4WD or RWD or FWD).

So to be safe, i's say this works very well for 750PP RWD cars.

Chrs,

I find that if i turn on tcs to about a 3-4, I get a real good launch without bogging. after I am underway, I turn it back off

In 600pp with my F430 it's a close call between burning out in 1st (keep hitting the limiter until it gets up to about 50mph then change to second gear) and starting in 2nd

Right now I think I'm slightly quicker starting in second but I might be able to top that start in 1st if I get the change point perfect

O thats because you have the new GT wheel..lucky you.

I can do that without the new wheel, I use the G25 then just re-assign the controls.

G25 !! EVEN LUCKIER YOU!!

And I have a question. Is there "Cold Tyres"? Because in the first lap I feel as though I'm on ice. Then the later laps I get grip.

lots of opinions on this from what i've read some say yes some say no, but what i can say for sure is if you go off into the gravel at Suzuka you will probably go off on the next corner too its has though your tyres are now covered in gravel and have reduced grip

What do you set you controls to for the in game set up? And does it only work online?

My Subaru WRX (and most AWD cars for that matter) get AMAZING starts... After the first 5 seconds I am in the front of the pack (or darn near close) just because that car takes off SO WELL... :dopey:

Same here..My STI RA is a beast off the line.👍

+1, Someone should make a guide for this.

Someone already has ;)

I posted this up for the regulars who visit my tuning thread last week.. but here it is for all.

PS3 Controller Tuning - How to adjust your Traction Control (ASM, etc) on the fly, Online/Offline .. for those of us who have no Wheels.

This really becomes relevant now that we have standing start races at Suzuka and Fuji.

Adjusting Traction control on the fly with a PS3 controller:
Go into Options
Change Button Assignments
Scroll down to the Down button on the D-Pad and set this to "(RA Function) Menu" -- This will bring the in race menus up, and turn them off again.
Scroll down to L3 (the dot in the middle of the left stick) and set to "(RA Function) Adjust -"
Scroll over to R3 and set to "(RA Function) Adjust +"
*** this lets you increase/ decrease Traction Control using L3/R3 while racing.. from 0 to max.

Scroll to the "Pink Square" button and set to "(RA Function) Select -"
Scroll to the "Red 0" and set to "(RA Function) Select +"

These two buttons are less used but will scroll through the other setable options like ASM etc...

Again use the L3 / R3 buttons to adjust values up and down.

So on the grid of Suzuka in your firebreathing 888 Tuned GT LM Spec II.. for the standing start, hit the Down Arrow.. click a few clicks of R3 to get some traction control for the launch..
Once racing you can click L3 to reduce and remove by pressing the Down arrow again.

Once you understand how simple this is you can assign your own buttons.
I find this setup works well for me as I drive using the sticks.

Regs,
888 Tuning

it REALLY angers and confuses me as to why I can't assign the adjustment keys to joystick left/right/up/down. Why can i ONLY click the joystick to adjust tcs/asm!? I want to be able to scroll up/down and adjust the settings with the left joystick WITHOUT clicking it.

When I was the using the controller I just set the directional pad to the adjustment. Up/Down moved through the options and Left/Right adjusted the amount. I think I had R3 bring up and take down the menu. Yeah, I lost look left/right, but that's not as important.

How do you have the buttons setup.

I actually left the G25's button assignments alone and assigned the realtime tuning to a spare sixaxis.
