I'm having trouble with my router, I connected everything, and I have no internet in my PC.

My setup is Modem>Router>Pc.

I got no internet on my pc, i check if there is any signal from the router on my PSP, and there is. I tried to get online with the PSP, doesnt work. I havent internet connection from the router. Thanks in advanced!

Router is a D-Link DI-614+, and my ISP is Comcast.

What kind of modem do you have?

First make sure that the router itself can access the internet.
The installation guide that came with your router should cover everything.

As DD said, check the modem does actually give internet access. Plug it directly into your PC and see if you can get online. If not, go and check the connection settings an ensure everything is plugged in where it should be.

Secondly, check you have actually connected the modem to the router correctly. It's gotta be in the "WAN" port, not the ones labeled with numbers.

Also, check to see if the little light on the front panel underneth "WAN" is on and in the colour it should be (orange or red usually means error).

Also, what type of connection are we dealing with here? Cable, DSL, FiOS?

Edit: Ah, I missed that you said Comcast.

I'd just call them up and have them troubleshoot with you. It'd probably be quicker than waiting for us to ask the right question.

a manual:

My guess is that the modem isn't on the same network as your router, or they have the same ip adress.
(probably the standard 192.168.1.1)

But as long as i don't know the type of modem i don't know.
Most modems i worked with are actually routers with 1 network port.

I have my modem set up this way:
local ip address: 10.1.1.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Router:
wan connection type: static ip
WAN ip setting:
ip: 10.1.1.2
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 10.1.1.1

That way the router can properly communicate with the modem.
But i will need more info to give you a proper setup.

If the PC is connected to the cable modem, no router involved, do you have Internet?

Yes, put the router back in - No, call Comcast.

With the router back in, what's your PC's IP address? Get a command prompt window and run IPCONFIG. If it's 169 something, then you're not getting DHCP. If it's 192.168.something, make sure your PC is set to obtain its address automatically, so we can be sure the router is providing that address. If you have an address and a gateway, ping the gateway. If it replies, browse to it. You should get a web interface from the router. Find its status screen and make sure it has a valid public IP from Comcast. If it's all zeroes, it's not talking. If it's static instead of DHCP, change it DHCP.

After all that, see how it goes.

Edit: Another thought: since it's a used router, who knows what's in it settings-wise. Should be a way to reset it to factory specs. Do that, and go from there.
