So the cable service provider in my complex just d*cked me over (as I expected) and said now that I have to wait until sometime in September for the system to support High Def. This is almost getting to the point where its just not worth it because I'll move out of the apartment in another year - so why buy the overly expensive receiver I'll have to get to work with their network if I'll just be leaving shortly anyway.

So the problem is that my over-the-air reception is ass. I need something serious to pick up HD signals, but I can't put anything too big on my balcony and I can't put anything on the roof. I'd prefer not to have a christmas tree sized antenna inside my living room to be able to do this either.

What's the deal, am I screwed? I don't think I can get away with a little cheap plastic POS antenna. I think need something mega and directional.

I know we talked about this before Solid, but I think I need to revisit the problem.

Do a search for the Zenith Silver Sensor, or something like that. It's the best, small indoor antenna for HDTV only. It also doesn't cost that much.

I'm thinking about getting Voom. But, I want to wait for the PVR reciever version, which isn't out yet.

What about this big bastard?

Edit: I just found out that antenna combiners exist. Maybe I could get several of the zeniths or something like that.

First off, combiners don't work like you think they do. They wont increase your reception. Only going to a bigger antenna will help you get more reception.

Stay away from the Terk 55, or the other model. I hear bad things about them. Go to www.froogle.google.com for help on finding the Zenith antenna.

Tried last weekend and failed.

I got a tuner and the zenith antenna. I got nothing... not even a peep of a digital stations. The standard signals looked pretty crappy too (not that I've ever had luck with that in my apt.).

So I'm out of luck. I guess I just have to hope that they upgrade my apartment eventually.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. It's all about getting a direct view of the antenna source, and it looks like you don't have one. So, no windows that point in the direction of Mt. Wilson? Remember to remove the screen, because it could act like a Faraday Cage.

My windows all point north or north west and they don't even have an unobstructed view of that.

According to the antennaweb website, the towers are south east of me which is directly through the apartments on the other side of the hall from me.

I didn't have high hopes for the antenna thing anyway.
