HD crashed and cannot copy save profile

Guys,

a friend ( still my best ) unfortunately spoiled coca cola into my ps3. Although it is one of the earliest models it still does the job. WE managed to get everything working except......the network card and bluetooth functionalitys are fried.

Now....my friend managed to get a new ps3 from the insurance ( folks....dont try this at home :sly: ) so today i had to backup all from the old ps3 to the new one.
To my surprise it didnt copied the GT5 data. First i thought it was due to limited hd space, but it seems that the save data file seems to be copyrighted. Therefore i cannot copy it solo as well as from the XMB menu were other can be copied.
Do you know a different way to swap the data? Otherwise GT5 will be kept offline for me sadly. Also Assasins Creed seems to have the same problem.

Help would be appreciated! 👍
 
Ouch unlucky.

I had a glitch on 40GB Hard Drive and I had to wipe it and lose my Prologue data.

It hurts and I'm afraid that you might have to start from scratch.
 
The PS3 drive is FAT32, so you could try cloning the drive using imaging software (like Acronis True Image) and applying the image to a new drive, but why don't you just swap hard drives?
 
Won't help... Save game is drm'd to the console hardware

If it was just replacing the hard drive then it's fine to backup and restore but new ps3 means starting again with gt5

Figures. Hopefully they remove the DRM in a future patch. Otherwise we'll all have to pray our motherboard doesn't die.
 
If you used the actual backup option, and the account you created on the new PS3 is the same as the old one (same username, same PSN ID) then copyrighted content should be copied over. I haven't done it with GT5 but it worked for numerous other protected saves I had.
 
I used the official way of copying using the backup option. However the GT5 file was not in there. It is only 456 kb large.....
transfering the data wont work with my old ps3 cause the networkcard doesnt work anymore.

crap.....lost 46 gold medals. On A, B, IA i had all gold .....sigh......as well on the special stages such as nurby....grmbl
will i loose my warranty if i swap the drive?

No this is the idiotic thing about the DRM on GT5 saves .... its tied to the actual PS3 hardware as well as your PSN ..... god only knows what made them do something so terrible .... PD never heard of an old and dead PS3?

The game save could simply be tied to your PSN (using some kind of digital signature) but to lock it down to a physical device like that is overkill for a damn GAME SAVE

i have sent an email towards Sony SCEA asking to forward the mail to polyphony.
I will keep you updated.

I was wondering if it would be possible to hook up the old ps3 drive to a laptop so that i copy the GT5 save and then paste it back to the new ps3. ....would that work? What do you think?
 
If you use the "Data Transfer" option.

All copyright protected content will be moved to the new ps3. But both PS3's need to be able to be turned on. :(

well i have tried that but i needed to update the old ps3 first with the newest update, meaning 3.55.
During the update it gave me an error message: 8002F1F9.
Trying to get into the ps3 safe mode didnt helped either cause the system didnt let me. Basicly it means that i have to reinstall Gt5 again without my safe profile. Gone is my progress......really cannot believe this.

the only thing left to do is installing UBUNTU ( linux based freeware operating system ) and trying to grab the GT5 save file from there cause the PS3 is using linux as a base file operating system. XP doesnt recognize the PS3 HD.
