Is anyone using a headset setup that does NOT require plugging into a controller. Specifically for racing games, as there are no inputs on the wheels. Via Bluetooth or USB connections. Thanks.

I use my turtle beach Px5 on ps4. It works great via optical to its reciever.
Down side is no chat function unless it's plugged into the controller, but if that's not an issue then it's a great headset.

Astro A50, the best gaming headset period. Anyone saying different doesn't know what they're talking about. I own several high end Grados and Sens, and yes, those sound better, but they are also 4 times the price.

For gaming, the controller is wireless, so no wires, and the surround effect is excellent.

yes I'm a headset A hole.

I agree with Mayaman...I have a pair of Astro A50 and they are wonderful. BUT if you want to talk ingame you still have to plug them up to the controller...If you just want to hear the game this is not needed. They connect to the wireless hub that plugs into the back of your Xbox...

I'm also in agreement with @Mayaman. I use an Astro A50 headset on my PlayStation 4 and it works flawlessly. I've also had various Turtle Beach and Tritton headsets and the Astros blow them out of the water. Also, @katpeeler are you talking about the Xbone or PS4? On my PS4 you don't have to plug them up to the controller to talk, I haven't tried with my Xbone though.

I have the Playstation Gold Wireless headset - for ps3 and ps4 it works great - built in mic, with all needed controls on the left ear (mute, volume, etc). No cables needed for PS3 or PS4 except to plug in to change the audio profile if you would like. Only thing is the virtual surround sound degrades the sound so I just use them as stereo.

No racing games on ps4 yet.. but for ps3 i have used them with GT6, Grid Autosport, and WRC 4.. with the bass boost on it sounds good.

Thank's everyone for the advice and I appreciate your time. Some good options here to try.

I know it's not completely on topic but can some of you that have Astro's help me with a question. I am seriously contemplating a set but I want to know if anyone here has advise for using them on PC. What kind of sound card do I need? Any decent priced sound cards out there for this? Thanks.

@TJisA1337NOOB I use my Astros in Iracing and they work fine with my sound card..I dont know exact kind of card I have but its nothing special....its an older PC (which hopefuly Santa Clause will upgrade for me) and the sound is perfect....

If you can afford them they are the way to go...I love mine...I even use them sometimes watching movies when I dont want to wake the house and they sound amazing

My problem is I have a fairly decent gaming PC but I never got a sound card for it. I would like a cheap card that supplies the surround sound for the Astro's.
