Heat simulation

So, I was just wondering - What if there was a unit you could add to your home rig to simulate temperatures inside the car? Would anyone go for such a thing? I'm not saying I want to start building and marketing them (too busy for that) but seeing as some people see fit to invest in racing suits, super expensive pedals, custom-built wheels and motion rigs, it seems like they're trying to get the most immersive experience of being inside a car without actually being inside a car. So it seems to me that temperature is another stimulus that hasn't really been explored much, I've never seen a custom rig with a heater hooked up to something like X-Sim.

Has anyone made or seen anything like this? It wouldn't even have to be expensive, we've been given some cheap electric heaters by British Gas because our central heating is broken and they can't fix it (guess how cold I am right now to be thinking about this post) and I figured if you hooked up an Arduino to X-Sim to get the engine or oil temperature of the car, you could surely work out how hot it'd be in the cockpit of your average xTCC or GTn car and get the Arduino to adjust the heater accordingly.

Just a thought, really.
 
I sweat enough now when racing. I don't think I will be adding any extra heat to my rig. As a matter of fact I have went in the opposite direction and added a window ac in my sim room to help out the central ac as it gets so hot in there sometimes.
 
Hmmm, I think I'll pass. Like others, when really getting my "Sim on" I get really warm so that element is already there, though not as extreme.

I'd be for a wind simulator for open cockpits though, that would be both immersive and refreshing!

Why stop there? You could have a fan in front of you with a mist spray that activates when it starts raining... That'd be hilarious.

But yeah, I sweat buckets when racing properly too, I just thought that since a lot of people want to mimic the experience as closely as possible, surely they should be mimicking the downsides too - heat being probably the easiest and safest to implement, as long as you kept it sensible and didn't make it so hot that you passed out, anyway.
 
Aside from passing out you'd have to worry about other tech in the room. When I'm playing, with my PC, wheel, TV and monitor it gets really warm from just those machines on, so adding additional heat could have devastating effects on equipment.

But wrapping yourself in a heating blanket may work, actually not a bad idea to increase the simulated heat, cheaply:idea:.

If you've ever get the pleasure of trying out a 2-3Dof Motion Rig's you wouldn't be concerned about adding extra heat, You create your Own. Part reason I built this

For anyone that has not raced, or raced particularly seriously in real life, I think heat would be no use to immersion, because it's not relatable. It's all about triggers, be they realistic or not. If someone was hypnotised and convinced that real race drivers wear clogs on their feet, suddenly wearing clogs would be immersive. It's not the thing, it's what the thing makes you think, and I don't think your average sim racer's brain would instinctively respond to heat.

However, I've long been wanting the smell of stale cigarettes in a can, to simulate the ye olde arcade experience.
 
Just turn off the A/C in your home, wear a helmet and race suit. Use a GS-4 G-Force seat, it will make your butt plenty warm, trust me.

Is it anything like when players use the T-cam and prefer the BBC overlays and think it's the most immersive thing ever?
