heel-toe problems

Whenever I try to heel-toe, I have a problem with the car going into neutral. I think it's because PD has the car go into neutral whenever you shift with the gas pressed (in order to prevent power shifting), but it's completely screwing up heel-toe downshifting. I can sometimes get the shifts to work, but since you have to get off the gas before moving the shifter, it's hard to match revs correctly. Anyone else having this problem?

No. The only issue, if one would even call it that, is the whatever pedal box you are using probably have the gas and brake pedal align and most gaming brake pedal are not load sensing which might create excessive brake travel and add to the issue.

Yes, but it became better after the 1.05 patch. Since the patch you only have to let off about 1/2 of the gas to shift successfully.

I don't understand why they're implementing shifting like that. Since GT5 has damage, they could just have improper shifting damage the transmission, like it would in real life.

Well how far would they take this? Race gearboxes are straight cut teeth, and once the car gets mobile the cluch isn't used to engage the next gear up. So they'd have to have different sets of parameters based on car types.

I play this thing old school with the D-pads on a controller, so I don't have a pedal rig, but does GT5 really have the capability to have heel and toe make any difference? I'm doubting not. Because if you don't heel and toe you'd lock up the tires, and from what I'm understanding you're not able to heel and toe currently due to some sort of throttle limitations and I'm guessing there's no issue with any lockup. H&T would be an awesome level of sim, but I'm thinking it's a futile effort to try and integrat that into your playing. Correct me if I'm wrong... just trying to understand the mechanics of this.

Heel-toe helps keep the rear of the car stable while downshifting. I found that if I didn't use it, the rear would step out on me a lot while trying to brake and downshift.

I never knew race cars don't use the clutch to shift up. Is it just used for downshifting and starts then?

I have the same issue. It's definitely not a hardware issue, since this works perfectly on other (PC) sims I play with my wheel.

It really is incredibly frustrating. You have to consciously make sure you're completely off the throttle on every move of the gear stick, which wastes a lot of time and I find it difficult to justify the effort in the name of realism and enjoyable driving feel.

It's made even more difficult by the fact that revs seem to drop unrealistically fast on most cars when the clutch goes in, making it even more difficult to match revs while staying off the throttle at exactly the right moment.

Clutch control is gimped in order to "level the playing field" with controller users. PD discovered that a wheel user with full clutch control (with no clutch damage/wear, as the case is now) could shift significantly faster than controller users, by slamming through the gears at a lightning pace. Rather than find a way to allow controller users to keep up, or implement clutch damage, they decided to artificially complicate the process of shifting to make it slower.

Why is that a big deal? If you have a racecar or a racing transmission, just change the way the clutch behaves.

GT5, No.

The game rev match for you if you use sequential.

I gave up on the H-pattern + clutch on GT5 ever since release due to this issue. Such poor support for the G25/27 by PD. I am disappoint. I guess that's why the new "official" wheel they're promoting by thrustmaster only has paddles.

My h shifter is broken so I haven't been able to heal toe since after the first patch but gt5 now different than gt5 prologue and gt5 per patched?
