Yesterday was the hottest day ever recorded in Australia, with the average highest temperatures across all weather stations in the country at 40.3°C... however it may now already be relegated to second, as today may have been even hotter across the country.

9pm and it is 30°C and it is 35°C in my room.

Sweaty sleep tonight and that is if I can get to sleep in this heat.

36.4C at the moment (@2145). I should probably fire up the PS3 - ain't gonna be much sleep tonight...

I won't do that unless you want to get a YLOD.

This heat is no good on technology.

We all know how hot the PS3 gets.

It's around 30 degrees right now in Canberra (10:30 PM). Gotta love an Australian summer!

The Sun isn't even up there at it would still take us 6 months to get within 10 degrees of that temperature!

You British would not last long here.
Just as we won't last long in the UK.

The British die in our summer.
We die in the British winter.

It's been roughly 10 C here for the past month or so, that's a heatwave by our winter's standards!

Even New Zealand has been having really hot weather. We had what I think was the hottest day for Wellington ever or something, which is a 34.5 degrees celsius or something, and that was CHristmas day. We almost broke it again a few days ago. Considering that last Summer never actually happened (by that I mean that we had 80% rain, 19% overcast and 1% sun, and it never got warm), this summer has been great.

It won't be for much longer. I don't want to commit as a definite however there are many strong signs with the weather (a large disruption to the arctic vortex) that the next 3 weeks for us are going to be VERY cold. Quite often struggling to reach 0'c. This weekend if gonna get pretty cold (Like early december) and that is only the tip of the iceberg. Look at the flow of arctic air predicted to be hitting us later this month.

That looks awesome, crunchy ground instead of the quagmire it's been recently...giggity.

BTW where do you get the long range forecast from?

Damn, was hoping for some nice bike weather in the following weeks.
Will just have to take it out in the following weeks then, if it's dry.

I nicked that image from a guy on this forum that I'm part of http://www.snow-watch.co.uk/. I'm pretty sure the image is from the gfs (global forecast system model).

This is the website that I use to view the charts http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php it's in french however it has the most complete view of data compared to other websites.

Today the Illawarra got a 104°F or 40°C day and this is not normal for this coastal region.

http://www.weather.com/weather/righ...ogleOneBox&cm_pla=application-us&cm_ite=today

This region is burning quite literally.

Pshhh - it got 44 here in Manly today. It was supposed to be 44 in the city and I am on the top of a hill with coastal breezes so was expecting less. God know what it would have been like in the western suburbs. My friends from the country had to endure the 52 reported yesterday. They have to put a new colour on the temperature scale for it haha.

I think they need to do away with colours and just have a gauge with Australian mannerisms. "She'll be right" until about 30, then "Strewth me friggin' prue" at about 35 and getting increasingly un-AUP friendly after that.

The heat just stays.
Since there is a north westerly wind(a hot dry wind) it keeps the heat even more.

My room is now 28°C with 41% humidity.

What's the humidity like there? Cause we hit 108-110F on average during the summer and we're used to it. :p

Oh the Arizona weather, I remember once that my father, my brother and me went to a D-Backs game there and an outdoor thermometer said 124º (50-something celsius)

Last summer autumn, temperature was hitting 40 celsius, now at winter, temperature at midday is struggling to get to 14 (We're at 8 right now)
