Just wanted to say a quick hello but maybe more importantly a real big Thank You to all the participants on the forum, especially the GT 5 section
I have been cruising around for a bit, just lurking, reading and learning a lot. Because of what I have learned here, I was able to complete several of the challenges that I (and Bob too) could not.
So, as suggested by Jordan, a bit about me:
* How did you find GTPlanet? Google is my friend.
* Where are you from? Southern interior of BC, Canada.
* When did you start playing the Gran Turismo games? GT 4 was the first one, followed by GT5P, then GT5. Both my son and I play these, and with GT5 my daughter has taken an interest as well. But as our PS3 is also our main DVD/BlueRay player, game time can be limited by other uses of the machine.
* Do you play with a steering wheel? No. Should we?
* What other games do you enjoy? I am not much of a gamer, I am attracted to GT as I like cars. But I have enjoyed the Lego movie games, especially the Harry Potter Years 1-4 that came out last year, bugs and all
* What are you most looking forward to doing in the community, now that you're a part of this site? As with my participation on the few other forums I am active on, I hope to be able to offer advise based on my own experiences, but mostly just learn from the experts here to make my GT experience more rewarding.
Some other stuff:
Jaguar is my favorite marque, although I can not afford any! I am collecting them all in GT5, just a couple more to go. Won the XJ13 today after doing my first endurance race. Real vehicles are a 2009 Subaru Forester that I use for my business, and its great in the woods; and a 2004 Toyota Sienna that so far has shown no signs of unintended acceleration! Notable cars of my past included a 1969 Datsun 510, with twin SU's and a rally cam, a real fun drive; and a 1996 Mercury Mystique V6, with the rare traction control. Very nice car to drive, very quick and tossable. But there was a reason my mechanic (who i got to know rather well) called the Mercury Mistake
Trains, both model and real, are my hobby (hence my user name, since XKSS was already taken
).
I work in forestry, as a consultant who specializes in forest safety and assessing activities for compliance to environmental standards. Takes me on the road a fair bit, that is the only downside.
Anyway, really looking forward to being here!
