I hope pd is reading this....

Something was bugging me while I watched these videos with the in car driving view. I don't know if the camera is supposed to be the drivers point of view or what. Anyway if you were a driver making a turn your head would turn and the center of your vision be the apex of the turn right?

for example

If you notice the corner is at the center of the cams vision. Although the camera is mounted on top of the helmet this demonstrates well what the camera view should be, in my opinion, if you want an in car view. This is close to what you see when you are racing. the drivers head moves and pivots and gets bumped around. Many people will probably disagree with this and like how the view is already. But I hate how when your drifting and your car is sideways and the camera is looking straight not at the apex of the turn. Its annoying to be honest with you.

The headtracking they have confirmed with the PSEye to be in doesn't seem like a good idea to me because when you head turns your eyes will be looking at the screen. So basically your looking at the corner of your eye while your head is turned. Innovative yes but I dont like the fact your looking at the corner of your eye.

All I want PD to do is have a cam like that in the video. I hate how you cant see turns sometimes. Have there been any other games with this feature?

PS can a mod edit fix this video I dont know how to post one :) thanks!

You can turn the camera with the othe stick.

I'd hate it if the camera was doing it's own thing. That would mess everything up.

Live for Speed, other than being the best(or at least in top 3) sim out there, has best camera movements of all games I've seen, and trust me, once you activate this feature, static cockpit in this camera view no longer seems to be an option you'd consider!💡

Love the way body roll is replicated, combined with EyeToy headtracking and PD graphics it would be epic, although it has to be executed fluently.
Maybe it's asking too much at this point and i'm quite used to interior view as it is right now, although body roll would be extremely fun especially on those old road cars with soft suspension settings, racing cars have far less body roll and the effect might be marginal unless full rollover is included.

I found it.. this is brilliant! fullscreen for best effect.
this is what I'm talking about. apex is right at the center of the screen. It seems more realistic to me.

This is one aspect that I admire in the GTR/RACE games. The camera movement independent of the car makes it seem as if I'm not stuck to the car, but rather just one part of it.

It'd also be great if there was an option to set a look-to-apex angle. That way, if you're at full lock, your head automatically turns, say, 15 degrees to the apex so you get a better look at the exit.

Sounds good but I wonder how It would cope with a fast series of chicanes. Would the camera start to look the opposite way before you have fully finnished the first section. Might seem weird.

Most games I've played with the feature only tilt the head if you're steering in that direction. Even though it's called "look-to-apex," it's a little of a misnomer because it doesn't have you looking at the apex if you're steering to the outside of the corner.

Your basically asking for head-tracking. And as to "because when you head turns your eyes will be looking at the screen"; My question is where else would your eyes be looking at? Here's headtracking (TrackIR) in iRacing- it looks quite similar to your helmet-cam video:

S13DRIFT if you only have to move your head slightly with the ps3eye then it wouldnt be bad at all, i get your point if you like have to turn you head alot though

hate to burst your bubble, but I severely doubt PD even visits this site. Which is a damn shame, you guys come up with some good ideas for GT5. take this thread you created. ;)

try to use an high value of "look-at-apex" in gtr2 and you will find out that you don't understand when you are oversteering.
That's why I hate it.

Alittle off topic but just came to me now. It would be awesome if when you started GT mode you setup a driver profile or something like this, and selected your height. This would then be replicated in the driver view.

OT: I wouldn't like it if the screen turned all by itself as i think that would be distracting, but by using an eyetoy with headtracking should give people who want this the ability to do so very well.

Oh yeah and the reason F1 drivers tilt to the side so much is to reduce strain on there neck.

love the vid. well its just the fact your looking at the screen with the corner of your eye. It'd be good if you don't have to move your head a lot like what Black86 said but your not looking exactly dead on with the center of your eyes. I wear glasses for example its kinda weird looking not dead on center at the turn. when i turn my head and look with my eye corner I see half of my lenses and half of my frames.

@ watevaman When you are drifting and the car is sideways during the turn does it still look at the apex? I hate how the gt5 in car view just looks straight ahead where ever the nose is pointed. It's no where near where your eyes are supposed to be pointed. you can't see where the apex is! This option sounds good if its like that.

Paolosev91 - You make a good point. I don't think you can tell you are oversteering if the camera is like that. But It looks ohh so good on replays.

Basically I want a option where the camera makes the apex around center of the screen automatically. And of course the ability to turn it off. I hate how the gt5 in car view just looks straight ahead where ever the nose is pointed its annoying especially when drifting. That vid that myke uploaded and the rfactor one i put up looks so good on replays and it feels more like your the driver.

Oh and the headtracking would be cool if you had vr glasses or if the screen was attached to you head or something. lol

Have to admit, those vids with dynamic cameras really do make the game feel much more immersive, and if that were implemented in GT5, could sway me to use cockpit view. Otherwise, I'll stick to the bumper and/or hood cam that gives you a better view of the track ahead.

I think the OP was talking about something like this:
I don't think so. It would seem like he's looking for either head tracking or a look to apex option. The video you posted is looking where the steering wheel is pointing, not where you're going.

Exactly, is a "look to the apex" option, but, that thing i would to show is the helmet itself, sorry if i missleading, my english is not the best.
