Help! Can't re-sync PS4 controller

I had my DS4 synced to my PS3 for a while (as it is a far superior controller to the DS3), but I decided to sync it to my PS4 again for some multiplayer action. However, I cannot get the thing to synchronise to my PS4 at all. Here is a list of steps I have tried from what I've read elsewhere:

Firstly, I deleted the controller entry from the PS3's Accessory Settings menu, so it should stop being recognised by the PS3.

I tried plugging the controller into the PS4, and completely powering down the system, then powering the system back on, and pressing the Home button on the controller. No dice.

I tried using a paperclip to reset the controller using the tiny button on the back, then following the above steps again. Still nothing.

I tried holding the Home and Share buttons down to put the controller into pairing mode. The light bar blinked white repeatedly, indicating it did attempt to pair, but it didn't want to find my PS4.

None of the above worked. The only thing my DS4 will do at the moment is blink white very briefly when pressing the Home button.

It will still, bizarrely, synchronise with my PS3 when following the steps to pair it via Accessory Settings, so there clearly isn't anything wrong with the controller, but it just will not connect back to my PS4. I'm at a bit of a loss as I'm not aware of any other methods to synchronise a controller to a PS4. Thanks in advance for the help. 👍

I'm not sure how it works on ps4, but for ps3, you could sync it by plugin the wire into the controller and into the ps3. DOes the ps4 pad as a cable as well ? if it has, it probably works like that too, otherwise sorry :/

Yes, that's the usual method for synchronising a DS4 to a PS4. Sadly, that appeared to achieve nothing. The controller is fully functional and I've synced it to my PS3 again for now, as it does seem to work fine there.

Try to turn it off, turn your ps3 and ps4 off, then wire your controller to your ps4 and then fire your ps4 with the power button and not the controller button.

If that dont work then yeah can't help ya :(

Perhaps the controller's battery is dead so why not leave it on so it charges a little and then try the usual method again?

I support this solution. I am on a mobile device right now, but I'm sure that it has something to do with controller frequency in Bluetooth, since dualshock 3 and 4 controllers operate on that standard. In fact, I will throw you one better and unplug your PS3 while undergoing the process.

I plugged the DS4 into my PC (and the light glowed orange - I think that means it's charging?), but after giving it time to charge it still refused to sync with the PS4 (but would still sync with the PS3).

It didn't seem to want to work last time I tried that, but I'll completely unplug the PS3 and give it another go. Thanks for the help, though.
