My laptop is strange .. I don't know why, the CPU is always 100%,infact the fan is very fast, it decreases to 50% for a couple of seconds and then goes up again, but there are no open applications, because the computer is fast ...
My laptop is an eMachines eME728, Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4500 2.30 GHz, 2.00 GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit
May it be because the hard disk is almost full?

Look a bit in the task manager what is taking all the computing power...

Download SpeedFan and report your temps. You will most likely will have to have it serviced for dust cleaning and thermal paste replacement or you can do that yourself if you feel brave.

Orrrr.. while you're in task manager, click the box that says show tasks from all users.

Maybe it's in that portion of the processes.

^That and if nothing there (i think that box is tagged from the beginning) it is probably wise to do what Nick said.
It shouldn't be expensive (10-20€) or if you have a nice tech guy he do it for free

The fan is running because the CPU is at 100%, and therefore putting off a ginormous amount of heat. Fan does not need repair. Malware occupying CPU needs repair/cleaning. Scan with Malwarebytes or the like.

The apps tab in Task Manager is the last place to look for what's going on. Go to the Processes tab, check the box for show processes from all users, then click the CPU column header to sort. You may need to click twice to get the high numbers at the top. Then you can start being informed about what's going on.

I prefer Task Manager --> Performance tab --> Resource Monitor but to each their own. 👍

I used to have wmpnetwk.exe doing that to me... I just deleted the file.
You realise that's the networking component of Windows Media Player, right? I'd be willing to wager an educated guess at you having your WMP library shared over your network, hence wmpnetwk always loading up the CPU...

No one was streaming from it... also, it still worked when I deleted it. I think it was an infected file.

It's Pentium. Throw it out, and buy an i3 system for a few hundred bucks. That solves all your problems.

*goes off to investigate systems for you*

Its perfectly fine, I don't even know why you would say its bad. Its a Pentium T4500, I would keep it. It is probably a system thing. When did it start? Have you tried system resore? Does this happen in safe mode?

I didn't specifically say it was bad, I just suggested that if he had the funds, to change the Processor. I'm not a big single core Pentium fan, hence my suggestion. :)

using a software CPU cooler by any chance? they show as 100% because they continually send idle signals to the CPU.

Idiots suggesting buy something new I'm sure he considered this and just as quickly dismissed it, he obviously would rather not spend any money fixing it, just like I would.

Good day.

@tlowr4 It isn't a single core, its a dual core.

Also, Bobalob, let's keep some respect in here.

Oh boy. Please, before I yell many nasty nasty words at this man, someone hold me back...

EDIT: Thankyou nissan.

Also, is it a dual core?...huh...learn something new every day. I thought that model was single. Well in that case, keep it, and I'll think about it overnight whilst I sleep :D

I have a laptop running a t4200. It's plenty fast for all the basics(browsing, youtube, email, Excel, etc.) This should be the baseline all netbooks try to at least meet.

^^ I think he's asking for a ban with that hurtful language.

Earm, have you tried fiddling with the hardware? Put it in for a service or cleaned it out yourself? A friend of mine had the same problem a while back, and it seemed to be a false reading due to heat (and yes, that's all I came up with last night :p)

You'll get used to it on this part of the forums.
