So, i recently lost 2+ years of GT5 save game last week, i had completed all but the 24 hour A-Spec races, and had basically acquired all but a couple of UCD cars. I want to start a new career, but i want a challenge, and i'm asking this community if they know any interesting ways to go through career mode that makes the game a lot harder and more interesting. A set of rules to abide by for example.

Why not try to not buy any cars (after your 1st one obviously)? Just use the Prize cars.
And try to use lower-powered cars in the races. Or even try not to use Aids like SRF or TC?

Oh, and sorry about your data-loss. I share your pain. :nervous:

Start with license tests and special events. Use the cars you are awarded through those, and you should be able to get 90% through the game without buying any cars.

And a Lexus ISF Race Car.

I made the mistake of waiting in the ucd and ended up buying a $998'000 audi :(

gallardo also

If you want a challenge. Dare I say it? Go to License tests. Don't go to the next one if you did not gold the one you are on. Do ALL classes. Have fun
Or try all the special events. They're pretty fun and some are harder then others.

This is how I did my licenses. Didn't move to the next until I golded the one I was on. Only took a few days....

You can just about reach level 40 on A and B-Spec with less than 10 cars available to you (not counting all prize cars) if chosen correctly...so, there's a challenge for you 👍

Liscence tests are super easy, the hardest one i remember was the bmw on nurburgring gp, going thru that chicane

No. I've golded that. There is two I still haven't gilded. The stopped challenge in the GTR is one of them :grumpy:

I heard someone tried starting off again using just stock cars (i.e. untuned), & said that it was a challenge. Maybe give that a go. Or, just complete the game using nothing but prize cars if you want something harder.

:)

You know what? I am in much the same situation as you. Only my data has been gone since just before the start of the new year, because it is still inside my YLOD PS3 and isn't being rescued.

What I'm planning is to go through the game without a single car being bought - just using the DLC tickets. There will have to be some exceptions made but I had every DLC prior to the start of the New Year sans American-only based ones. But I'm planning on doing the races in the most fair ability car possible since my driving skill is way more than high enough to make such races possible but just about low enough to make others more interesting.

Of course, when I do get a new PS3 is a different matter.

This. I bought a Honda Accord '88 from the UCD yesterday and just for the sake of trying it out I did the FF event in the A-spec beginner's series. No tuning. Was pretty fun :)

Another challenge could be that whenever you crash you need to exit and restart the race.

I'd started a new user a while back and set out on a new career path too. Set up some parameters to make things more interesting.

For Driving: Cockpit view only even standards. No aids especially ABS. No initiated contact with AI. 2 Wheels on track. No cutting. This has really helped with car control.

For Cars: Default or worse tires. Add my weight in ballast. Ideally no tuning although some ASpec may need a slight power boost to keep up. (Vitz race?) No suspension or drivetrain tuning.

That's just some things I do to make Arcade races more challenging and then used them in seasonals too. You get to know the cars better in stock form. Running without ABS doesn't allow for such easy brake heroics ducking under the AI. I think I only got so far as 5 race series into ASpec before I got bored with the AI again, lol.

+1:tup:
If you don't do these things already, you might find that you enjoy GT5 a lot more and find more of the challenge you're looking for.

@NCRthree, I do exactly what you've perscribed ( except I don't drive standards w/closed cockpits :yuck:) but, do you adjust things like LSD, tranny, aero and suspension on race cars (cars that have adjustability to these by default)? I do enjoy messing with those settings.
