I smoke, but occasionally I take a break for a couple weeks. I've never found it that hard, I have been smoking since right after I turned 14. So thats a couple months over 2 years. Just recently I've been taking these week or 2 long breaks. In about the last 3 months. But anyways good luck guys!

I know there's multiple threads about this anyway, but here goes. I'm 17 years old, I've been smoking cigarettes for about a year now, and I'm trying to quit. I know there's a few people here who have quit, and I just want to know if any of you have any advice on how to supress the cravings when they come. Any and all help is appreciated.
You've onl;y been at it for a year. You can do it. Like Sage said, so a search. I lost my father to lung cancer and the story is there.

Good luck!

Psssst, Duke: He bumped up this thread from long ago... his update post is a few posts up.

I know what you guys are going through.

I'm 18 and I have been smoking for 3 years. That is 3 years of continous consumption, on average one pack could last me about 5 days. But during the last year, I have been going out a lot more... meaning I have smoked a lot more.

I don't really feel that I want to quit smoking but I feel that I need to. My condition is just plain bad. We did like a running test at school and it took me 30 minutes to complete 5km. And it wasn't easy, I was dead after running that.

I've tried quitting before but I always gave in at one point. But I swear, as of today I am going to give this my best try. It is now or never that I'll quit! Going cold turkey is the only way I suppose...

Friend of mine, he's an older guy, has been smoking for a good portion of his life. But he smokes "controllably." He only smokes like 1 a day and its usually if he's drinking. And he's very active (ie; plays golf, works out). So if you can't totally quit - which I know you can :) - there's always the less taken but still safer route.
