-Handbreak idea's
-and anything that it may benefit and help me get better
-all improvement ideas accepted.

Any questions please ask.
The wheel is a g27
I find myself using the e-break alot.

I don't know if you have the money for it, but getting into tactile adds a completely new dimension to your rig. I wouldn't want to be without.

Anyway, dropped some thoughts (and ideas for equipment) in the following topic on that already.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=285877

Apart from tactile. I would go for either a hydraulic handbrake from DSD. Or if you have some time, the Clubsport handbrake from Fanatec with the USB adapter.

Also any upgrade to a belt driven wheel will be an upgrade. Depending on preference this would either be the Thrustmaster T500 or any Fanatec wheel.
The reason I start about the wheel is because of the in my opinion frustrating force feedback deadzone on the G-series wheels (which is build into the firmware, so you can't dial it out). So any of the wheels above I'd consider an upgrade and an improvement of immersion and quality of driving.

-What is a Tactile? I have done research, More ideas on tactile please?
-Can you post some links of the DSD? I Do not now how to wire.
-I am fine with my wheel but thanks for suggestions options.

Tactile refers to the sense of touch. When we talk about a tactile system, we talk about tactile feedback through vibrations of special speakers. These speakers are made to produce vibrations.
So as far as vibrations think about road noise, kerb vibrations, vibrations through the karussel at the Nordschleife.

Simvibe is a program that provides tactile feedback: http://simxperience.com/Products/SimVibe/SimVibeSoftware.aspx

So basically you addvibrations to your rig, so you can for example feel of you hit the kerbs at the apex or not. It's a whole new level of immersion.

This is a review of the above mentioned Simvibe by Inside Sim Racing. With below that the guide on how to setup a tactile system.

Alright, it was just a suggestion about the wheels. Especially after having gone through a couple of wheels myself (G25, T500 and CSW).

Hi Shootdacar - I agree with Logiforce about tactile adding a great deal to the experience.

The cheapest way to get a tactile effect would be a single channel shaker system - an Aura Pro Bass Shaker (about $40US) and power by an amp taken out of a powered subwoofer - you can get these off ebay also for around $40US. If you fit a tactile transducer / bass shaker under your seat you will feel the engine vibration and road bumps / kerbs from the game. It is possible to spend an absolute fortune on tactile, but you can also add it very chaeply and still get an improvement in your gaming experience.

I just wish to add to that, that you have to use an amp that is at least 10% more powerful (per speaker output/channel) than the speaker you will be driven. So if you have a 400 Watt Max RMS speaker, grab an amplifier of at least 440 Watts Max RMS. Personally you'll see you will end up with a 500 watt per channel amplifier.

Also make sure that you get an amplifier that will be able to handle the right impedance level. 2 ohm capable amplifiers usually don't come cheap (in comparison to 4 and 8 ohm amplifiers).

If you use a too weak amplifier, you'll end up with a clipping amplifier. Which causes damage to your tactile speaker as it will cause bottoming out of the speaker. (because of this I highly advice against the Buttkicker amplifiers. Especially those delivered in kits, like the Gamer 2 kit).

More on clipping...

I will look into the Tactile set-ups and the hand-break after I get a job, I live in New Zealand, and only 15 and I can see it been quite expensive, I was kind of just after a few things but, now this has put ideas in to my sim rig for later ideas and I would love to thank you for that!

I added a keyboard and a center console/armrest to mine. The console I made years ago for an old Buick. Works great holds all my controllers!

Tach is just for show.. The multi screens are easy just need 3 ps3's and 3 gt5 discs and 3 tv's!

I'm glad gt6 is on ps3!

Here's a few that I came up with.

Sand it and paint it, makes a huge difference. You could also cover the frame with thin plywood pieces for even better looks.

If you want to improve your driving maybe consider a Nixim or GTEYE spring mod for the brake pedal if you don't already have one.

For the handbrake you could make a dedicated unit that could be mounted anywhere. The handbrake could trigger a switch like this. The switch would be wired to any button on the G27 shifter unit or a controller.

(^^upside down) You could also hook it up to an analog stick or a potentiometer if you wanted an analogue handbrake, but that might be a bit more complicated.

I used some corner braces and other pieces bolted together for extra strength. Pretty easy once you figure out the right pieces. Here's two examples. The first one I've combined with a button box and a sequential shifter, all wired to a Madcatz controller board.

Hope these help. :)

Very nice indeed, I like the second one but, I really have no clue how, I would construct one of those, or wire it in, Your ideas are really cool, I might cover the frame were the feet go and reverse mount my pedals, But I really have no clue were else I would paint without it looking bad.

For looks I would sand and paint the rig afterwards, it really does make a big diffrence 👍
On the modification side I´d suggest you take a look on Chilcoke's DIY mod page, there you find great instructions on "how to make": an e-brake (and wich one's to look for), reverse mounted pedals (I would recommend you to combine them with a brake mod) + he sell wheel adaptors, if you digg a real car Wheel.

Vistit his page: www.chilicoke.com

Happy Modding hours :)

I am planning to do that but do not have the time, I went to the DIY site and I did not find anything on the How to make side of it. It was all just how to wire it up, I was just thinking about reversing the pedals but then I will need to find more wood to make a platform for them to connect to first, I did not find anything about the brake mod, I was thinking about getting a momo wheel, and just making my own adapter out of this MDF, like this guy I know.

How to make a side of it? Sorry do not quite follow :(
The brake mod are not on chilicoke's site, was just something I would recommend you to do combined with a reverse pedal mounting :)

Saw your other thread on Surround Sound, have you tryed using some good headphones? I preffer mine over my "Surround System" or over my old home theatre setup 👍 Remember to change your sound setting in GT5

Part of it/side of it is just a term, Some people use, Sorry, So what I was saying is there is no-where I can find about a DIY hand break apart from wiring one in.

I have proper playstation ones by sony, That have the surround sound effect built it, but this does does give the car behind to front effect.

How do you change the sound settings?

Thanks SDC.

No DIY-Guide for a non-wirering E-Brake, but think creative with the DS3 Pad and you can make one. Either simular too what you got (button pressing) or with some string/elastics to the analog on the pad.

I have been highly recomended to try a MIXAMP-PRO by a fellow gamer with headphones but i can still survive without, even though it temps me to try.

Go to OPTIONS>Sound settings and change from Living room to Small- or Large - Theatre (Sorry my GT5 Does not Work atm, so best guide i can give right now)

-Yeah I was talking about how to build a DIY e-breake

-thats nice but, as you said its really not needed

-So what one would be 5.1? large or small?

The Astro mixamps are great little units, I have had use of all three versions. The original version (with a beveled volume knob) sounds excellent but does have a distortion issue with bass heavy material. The second version (non-beveled knob) is currently the best in my opinion because the newest (2013) version has, to my ears, four inferior eqs, compared to the predecessor's superior one eq. That said, Astro has promised to offer a firmware update enabling custom eqs, which may make the 2013 version the winner in the end. The mixamp with some high quality open back headphones make for a very immersive and impressive sound.

can you add headphone into it?

I have no idea what you are asking.

Can you plug headphone's into to?

Woah, steady on big red. Pretty much the sole purpose of the mixamp is to deliver virtual surround to headphones. It does it very well.
