Help me win a ride in a SLR

Much to my surprise, I discovered yesterday that the SLR has its world wide launch here in South Africa in December. To celebrate, our largest motoring newspaper is running a competition whereby the winner gets to be driven around Kyalami International Raceway, in a SLR, by Klaus Ludwig (Ex-DTM Champ and Ex-Le Man Champ).

I need to answer to questions, post em, hope for some divine intervention and viola!

Here are the two Questions:

1) Name on of the drivers who drove the original SLR in the 50's

2) What is the full name of the McLaren that became the most expensive F1 car never to race?

1. Stirling Moss and John Fitch... Both still alive IIRC...

2. No idea whatsoever...
 
2) I'm thinking of "The Dolphin", that had crashtestpromblems and a lot of other probs. this season, it never raced.. Dunno the full name though.
 
Re Question 2, is that this year's car? If so, it's the MP4/18A.
Stirling Moss is correct. I believe you could also go for Hans Stuck.
