I just ordered a G27 a few days ago, and it has yet to arrive. I have been trying out a couple of setups of my own, but none of them were comfortable or convenient. Does anyone have any ideas for a setup that would be easy to remove, comfortable, and doesn't take up much space?

You could build one. I've put together a couple of them over the past couple of years and I've found that 1x8 boards tend to make the best things to attach the wheel itself to, as (at least on the DFP and DFGT) they are roughly the same width as the distance from the wheel lockers to the USB cord.

Depending on how involved you get with it, it may look a little hillbilly, but for a long time I had a perfectly stable and solid wheel mount that was essentially a 3' long 1x8 attached to a table with a set of tie down straps, which took about 30 seconds to take apart when I didn't want it out. My current cockpit is a pair of 3' long 1x8 boards screwed together at a 90 degree angle with two 2x4s added for support, all screwed into a desk drawer of a hardwood desk through the holes originally used for the drawer handles (so I could take it off almost as quickly as I could my previous one with no damage to the desk). A DIY cockpit really comes down to the stuff that you have on hand more than anything else, especially if you want to be able to get it out of the way when not in use.

I tried the folding table, but decided it was too unstable unless I bolted it to the ground or something.
And I'm not that handy at building stuff, but I'll give it a go.
If you're nat good in building things, why don't you get one of these?

I heard it's good and pretty cheap. Here's a thread about it:

This subforum was a better place to create this thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Maybe you could ask a mod to move this thread?

Just trying to help.

(I have to be very careful what to post the last few days, people seem to misinterpered my post).

Thanks all for the advice. I'm really looking at that Ikea stand, since its cheap and I can get one for the wheel and one for the shifter+height adjustable!

Well, it seems that the easiest mounting solution is still going to be that folding table.
