Help Needed with Full Models from Tuner Village

It seems that every full model auto that I have bought from the Tuner Village on GT4 accelerates horribly out of first gear. So far I have the Amuse CarbonR, HPA R32, Nissan Stream Z, Mine's Lancer Evo VI 00, and they all have the same response. I run the cars with an automatic transmission and have tried to tune the gears to solve this problem to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem also? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your having wheelspin problems I presume, basically a lot of the tuner car's are hugely powerful, and use road tyre's. You need to lenthen the first gear, a lot, increase rear downfoce (if available), use softer tyre's or racing ttyre's if and when you can, and I hope that's good advice, but I'll let someone else finnish off.

I'm surprised you don't like the Mines. Great car. Are you not getting traction in first? maybe try changing the diff ratio's, also test a few different rubbers. They will make a huge difference. Oh and don't be too hard on the throttle with some models or you'll just get a hand full of wheel spin.

Edit: oh and what live4speed said... gear ratio's and downforce will help.

For the Option Stream Z, if you are planning to extend the gears, then you will have to have it tuned with consideration to the torque that the engine produces. If you have a look at the dyno chart, you will see that at low revs, the engine produces almost no horsepower nor torque.:yuck:

That's thanks to that HUGE turbo it has.

I've never had a problem with this.
It could be that you are using an automatic transmission. :ouch:
Or possibly that you are just being very hard on these cars. :guilty:

Maybe your driving aids are still on and that is part of the problem?

My suggestion would be this...
Try everything I've mentioned above if you haven't.

Driving aids off.
Manual transmission.
Ease up on judging if you still can't find a solution. ;)

Also, try some new cars. 👍
The Mine's Skyline is awesome.
The Spoon Civic is great.
The Amuse R1 is amazing.

Try those as well.

To better clarify (more specifically applicable to the Mine's Evo and HPA R32 Golf) im not getting any tire spin but the problem is more like the car starts out extremely slowly from a dead stop. From a dead stop if i apply the gas fully the RPM's jump to about 3000 and then fall back down to 1500 and then makes the jump back up to 7500 and is great from there. It starts as if I was in a standard in real life in third gear trying to start. Once I get past 15 to 30 mph its as acts as if its perfectly normal. This occurs even when the car is fully stock after purchase.

That's what they call "turbo lag."

Someone with a more technical understanding of the subject will explain it eventually. 👍

Just wait.

That would be me. :D Turbochargers are powered by the exhaust gases that the engine releases from the exhaust manifold. when the engine is at low revs, the 'charger has a hard time "spooling" up and in concert, the turbine fan inside the the turbo itself cannot compress the air optimally, so as a result the engine does not gain all of it's horsepower from the turbocharger when accelerating revs.
Hope that helped.

Ok,
Just a few final notes I wanted to make. :sly:

YeahSanta,
After looking into your problem a bit more closely I am sure it is "turbo lag" that is holding you down in those first few thousand RPMs. 👍

Also, "smoke u 24/7" has it right but to put it all in plain english.

The Turbos on a car usually don't work well until you are at higher RPMs.

That said, I have a piece of advice to avoid turbo lag.

Keep your revs up.
I know that seems elementary but it is very important.
Just practice proper shifting technique and you should have it in no time.

Also, try not to let your car come to a full stop (as it will garuntee that your revs drop out of the "sweet spot" or anything close to it).

Finally, switch over to the manual transmission and learn to drive by hearing the engine noise. 👍

Good luck,
hope that helps and is understand-able. :D
Until next time,

thanks everyone for the help, I the suggestion about the turbo lag seems to be the problem. From a dead stop if i hold brake and the rpms are between 3500 and 7000 then let off i get a pretty good acceleration. I will search the forums and see what others have to say on this topic. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks again - yeahsanta :)

All good yeahsanta.
We are here to help.
Let us know how things go and if there is anything else we can do please don't be scared to ask (even if it's not exactly on the topic of the thread). 👍

Good luck with your racing. :D
(btw, rep given) 👍

If you come to a dead stop on the racetrack for whatever reason, I have found that holding the brake on and giving full throttle until the RPM is at the level that you want, then releasing the brake.

Off topic: live4speed- it's "you're" not "your" when you said "Your having wheelspin problems I presume..." :) 👍

that car rules  your like nothing......nothing.....nothing.............nothing.....then wooooooosssssssshhhhhhhh vrooooooommmmmm ,change gear and back to no power

you need to get a Mines Skyline and the HPAR32, turn the aids off, then try to learn how to use MT:ouch: , those cars are DREAMS to drive

Never liked the HPA R32 that much - the handling isn't all that, especially compared to the Amuse R1, which is just phenomenal. It also has too much turbo lag - anything below 4000rpm in 1st and you are stuck. Reminds me of when I put my foot to the floor in an Impreza (real life) - nothing much happens apart from a slow change in engine note, then suddenly you are catapaulted along the road. Fun, but not useful for neogiating hairpins on low-grip tyres (because sticking R3 or softer on a normal car never solves anything).

I wish PD had just put the stock R32 in - sounds awesome!

As for turbo lag - you need a certain flow rate of gases to get the compressor to do some effective work on the intake gases; hence below a certain engine speed, with a low exhaust gas flow, very little additional pressure is generated - all the exhaust gas energy goes into simply spinning the compresser vanes against the bearing friction etc. (you can tell I'm revising thermodynamics at the moment).

dude they have the stock R32 in it, then to solve the tubo lag put on an original turbo, it solves everyting

as for the handling, lower it, stiffen or soften it whichever you need, and put the lightweight kits on

do that and you'll be a tuner god (or you could buy the RE Amemiya

Yeah, I was underwhelmed by the HPA Volks. It seemed like a bargain for the price, but it couldn't deal in the Tuner GP at all. The boost lag is atrocious, and once the power does come in, the car understeers mightily because it just overwhelms the front tires.

Can't believe I've missed that one :ouch: I really need to finish the FGT (5 months now and counting...) and take one out for a spin.

I had the HPA fairly early on in the game, so didn't bother tuning it. When time allows, I'll try and straighten it out.

too true too true
