HELP, please? PSP stopped playing videos and games.

Like it says in my title, my PSP will not play videos anymore. I have made sure that they are in mp4 format but it'll say the video cannot be played or unsupported data when it IS mp4! :grumpy: Is there anything I can do? Also, my PSP has also stopped reading games for the 3rd time. The first was because I idioticly took it to the beach and the second time was unexpected because I actualy ended up fixing it by rubbing the lazer with my finger. I get the feeling though I made it worse because withing 2 hours it stopped again.

My PSP is a fat one too so it could be it's aging or just that I've done something wrong. Can anyone help?
 
It sounds like age is catching up with it.... especially if its a fat one...
 
Try re-installing or updating the firmware.. i just know thats the problem but don't know how to fix it.
 
After the initial disappointment wears off, I hope you end up thanking your PSP for not giving you painful RSI from using the horrible shoulder buttons/analogue nub combo...

Take it as a sign - we can look forward to a (hopefully much better) PSP2 at E3 soon. :)

Yeah, I love the fact that Sonys can only fail if you do something wrong to it, and they last LONG. I've had this thing since it came out ( 2006 right?). Any other system you would've had to take care of it like hell! My PS2 is still running perfectly fine! ( I just wish I took better care of GT4!)

Hopefully, they make a PSP that will still run on UMD's because I hate the amount of memory DL games take up. Wouldn't it be cool if the UMDs were like miniture blue rays?

Sony had so good ideas:
The minidisc was genius, no dirt , no scratches. Still got my MD walkman with all my md carefully stocked away. And it still works like a charm (tryed out 3-4 months ago), and the system is like 10 years old.

The prototype of the br were also cased. but apparently most customers in NA and Euro don't want cased cd. In Uk and japan they had succes though
 
Apparently Sony are now backtracking, saying the PSP Go was "a test" of download only games (and concluding that perhaps consumers don't want it yet - ignoring Apple's success with a reasonably priced online store).

Given that the PSP was INSANELY expensive, the PSP online store woefully under-stocked/over-priced, older model PSPs were far better and cheaper, any useful 'testing' of downloadable games' viability was surely negated by these factors.

Still, it *sounds* like Sony have decided to hang onto an optical format for whatever the PSP2 turns out to be.

That's cool, I hope the screen will have better quality and that it'll have a updated flash player.
But not to ruin the conversation but, I still have my PSP's problem. :confused:
So I guess I should just preserve my memory stick and wait for the new PSP?
I can't sell it because I lost the battery lid ( weirdly, I dropped it and couldn't find it after) and I'm missing the anolog stick top. :banghead:
