Question, I currently race on a g920, attached to a table, should I upgrade to a fanatec v2.5, Mclaren GT3 wheel and elite pedals and get a rig later, or get a quality rig now and upgrade the peripherals later, I would like to upgrade peripherals but not sure my current mounting situation would be stable enough for the force feed back. Opinions please

I used a CSW V2 on a home made wooden rig without issue for years until I recently upgraded to an 8020 rig. Post your current setup and I'll tell you what I think.

Innovative! To be honest that looks pretty well made and solid with lots of metal so I don't think stability is going to be an issue. Yes ffb will be stronger on the Fanatec wheel but that can always be turned down if it's too much. The main benefit of the Fanatec will be the smoothness of the ffb delivery and general feel of quality of the kit. So I would personally go with the Fanatec wheel and then start saving for one of these.

The table seems relatively stable, but the pedals simply stand on the floor and if they have a little more resistance they will slide away from you.I would buy quality rig first.

The pedals on the g920 have a gripper on the bottom and they are set on a foam rubber pad, but you are right and I do get some slippage, and it does effect consitincy of laps, didn’t have the issue when I first bought it over a year ago but now that I have progressed I like a higher more realistic break pressure, and it does move, and I’m constantly readjusting it.

You could bolt something across the legs of your table to keep the pedals from sliding away.

I have thought about that, but I guess what I’m really trying to ask the community is which option makes the most sense, I will eventually end up with a quality rig and the fanatec set up, but at this time I’m only willing to buy one or the other, the g920 is a descent entry setup, so would I have a better experience by buying a rig now and getting the fanatec in 6to8 months and having something solid to mount it to. And not having to pay $50 for a table clamp. Or is the fanatec so superior that I should buy it now and mount it to my concoction.

I have a G29 (it has bolt pattern to bolt to a table) I would guess that the fanatec wheel has a bolt pattern also so all you would have to do is drill some holes in your table and use those instead of buying the $50 table clamp that you wont need later.

With CSW V2.5 which has 4 times more powerful force feedback(even if you do not use the full force) the table also might start to move and you will not be able to fully enjoy the new wheel, and then you will buy rig much sooner than planned 6 to 8 months.

In my opinion in your specific situation I would recommend upgrading your rig first. A better wheel wont make you any faster, but a correct driving position might. It also helps a lot more with immersion in the game. If you feel driving is like a G920 clamped to a table currently... that will only change to driving a CSW clamped to a table when you do chose to upgrade your wheel first. Fanatec LC pedals should always be hardmounted securely!

Would you have space for a rig, or at least a wheel stand, if not? Honestly, it's kind of a toss up, and really no wrong way of doing it. I think your stand should be able to handle the CSW 2.5. If you can modify your setup for cheap, to be able to at least stop your pedals from sliding. Then getting a Fanatec wheel base and pedals first, should be fine, otherwise, if you can't. I would probably upgrade to a rig first.

This was my setup, before I upgraded to a GT Omega Pro Cockpit, and it has done its job over of years that I've used it. FFB wise, I didn't have a problem with using the CSW 2.0 with my stand, unless maybe you were into drifting, and really cranking on the wheel. But since my pedals were just laying on the floor, they would slide on me when braking, or kind of tip up on me if I was practicing heel and toe. Which got annoying, especially when I upgraded to ClubSport V3 Pedals. So honestly, going the rig route first would be a good idea, as you can brake more confidently, without worry to much about the pedals moving on you.

Thanks, seeing that I can order the f1gt for $500 and free 2day shipping may make sense to get the rig first, then I can buy my fanatec in increments, that way the wife won’t freak out as much, yet anyway.
