Does anyone know what this means? I'm using HDMI output to a recently purchased HP 23" monitor. GREAT picture. I turned on my PS3, loaded up GT5 and was listening to the music via the player in the game while doing some paperwork, because there are so many good tunes on the disc. After first song ends, picture goes black, sound goes off, along with the blue light. Green light remains on solid. For fear of being forever stuck, I did get the GT5 disc out thankfully. I can still turn on power, but only get that solid green light.

It's the older fat style from approx 2007, and has an 80GB drive.

Any suggestions? Is there still hope for it?

(What sucks now is I'm half way through level 20 and was so jazzed to get through the expert races)

Try holding the Power button down. I'm not to sure what it could be but if you often alternate between HDMI and AV Outputs you need to do this whenever you change.

Just a suggestion, no guarantees. :)

Try switching back to A/V cables and see if you get picture? Maybe your HDMI went bad (?) if you already tried the manual picture reset...

(Mods.. I know this is the wrong forum to post in... but a brother needs help to get his GT5 grind going :P)

I would also recommend trying the av cable. I had a launch 20gb ps3 from Japan that had its hdmi die half a year into owning it :( do you still get sound when you boot it up?

Wow, it's the monitor!! I have a projector too, and it's working with it. Looks like I may have to make a return. Sound is good.

If you can take an advice,(I'm not advertising) exchange the monitor for an LG LED,is the best image quality that I have seen so far, that could be a good option for you.

The reason I liked this HP 2310m is that it has a 3ms response time and a gorgeous picture. I'll look into LG though. Thanks for the help guys.

I'd take the suggestion of switching to LED. The LG is great and you won't notice the 2ms difference. What you'll notice is the improved video and image quality. If you want a faster LED, Acer has one at 2ms and but it's slightly bigger at 24" and costs bit more (probably still under $200):

It could also be the monitor not being able to display the current resolution. Holding the power button would have fixed that problem though. Shall I suggest the 25.5" ASUS VW266H. Great looking picture, great color, and cheap. The only downside is it doesn't have a great viewing angle. Otherwise, I'm very happy with both of mine.

When the PS3 is off, hold the power button for a few seconds till you hear a second beep. Holding the power button while it is on will only turn the ps3 off. Remember.. second beep. Comprende? Happened to me before as well.

It would be great if you read all the thread posts before trolling a fellow member.

I used to have the same problem with an lcd tv/hdmi setup every so often and here's how i would fix it: Unplug your tv/monitor power cord, power ps3 down and turn the switch off on the back or unplug the power. Leave hdmi cable attached. Wait for a minute or two, plug everything back in and turn everything back on, and the picture comes back.

Thanks midnighteggs! I will try that. I may also go ahead and go LED tomorrow. We'll see.

Yup! That did it. Picture is back. I don't think I want to go through this once a week. That's a crappy way to go. At least I'm good for now and I really appreciate all the help!

👍👍👍

Try switching ON and OFF the monitor. It happened to me a couple of times thinking it was the PS3 when in fact it was the LCD monitor(I'm using Samsung T220HD). Some cheap monitors don't like HDMI signal go figure.

Swapped today for the LG E2350 - LED monitor - NICE!

The picture is really gorgeous.

Thanks for the suggestions. :-D
