Help Required Playstation Plus

Hi and thanks for looking I have always had my son set up my Playstation so I am a bit/lot of a dinosaur with things.
My son has married and moved on family of his own etc..........
Now GTS I have at a friends played online racing and it was ok difficult for me but ok. Now I am back home and decided to give it a real go on my own PS, I was asked for an email address and then it said I required Playstation Plus I see the icon for it on my PS but that's where it stops, What do I do with it? How does it work?
Any help will be appreciated Thank you.

Thank you very much I see PS have gone down the old xbox route of pay to play.
I will be giving it a miss as it isn't worth it for me to just do a bit of online racing for the odd hour now and again.

I didn't like it either, but 40$ per year is pretty cheap. And there is definitely much less lag in GTS than in GT6, because the servers are actual servers and not other peoples home connections. Its worth it IMO. Far less crashes, even the Brazilians seem mostly stable.

Plus membership also gives access to different free games every month plus discounts on game purchases as well. Also allows online play for all PS4 games with that option so it has more value than just GTS. 40 Dollars a year is like 77 cents a week, pretty cheap entertainment cost in today's world.

Amazon has it for 39 bucks a year at the moment and if you do any kind of gaming other than racing you will usually find 3 or 4 games you like in the monthly freebies. Going from ps3 to ps4 and having to pay online was a shock to me as well, but Xbox is exactly the same. It is a reality of gaming in 2017.

On a side note... does anyone know if you can stack It? Ive never tried it. Mine doesn't expire for 9 or 10 months. But, it's so cheap now... I want to take advantage.

Not entierly true.
Do I need PS+ if I want to hotlap at AC?Nope.
Do I need PS+ to play Destiny 2?Yes.
Do I need PS+ to do a hotlap in GTS?Yes.
So not all titles work the same way in PS4.But I agree that the "free" titles is a good thing and those can actually be better games that those we bought.

Yes. I did exactly that. Just order it. You will get a code in your email. Enter that code under the redeem code on PS4 and you will be automatically extended.

Only sport mode has dedicated servers, lobbies are still P2P.

Before the price went up in Europe there was an offer on for 18 months for the price of 12. The text said it would be added on to your existing Plus account.

For me is worth it.
When I bought my PS4, my opinion was completely opposite, since then changed my mind.
PS+ gives you access to some other things also, as some free games, or big discounts.
And, If you buy a year package is much less expensive than the weekly or monthly basis subscription, even if you don't have the opportunity to buy at sales price.
