The only reason so far that I can figure this championship series is in the Extreme Hall is because it is extremely boring. Anyone out there find a way to make these races interesting?

No matter what ride I have tried so far, either 1) I pass all five competitors before the first turn, or, at most, during the first lap, and then go on to turn lap after lonely lap until the finish; or 2) I cannot catch (without NOS, which I have purchased only once and would rather not purchase again) the one competitive car of the other five because it has excessive straightaway speed and gets too far out in front to catch. I've tried running the same car that pulls away from the pack, but it hasn't worked so far.

I've got a garage full of cars and plenty of credits to spend, so I'm in a position to execute any reasonable plan of attacking the extreme boredom of the PD Cup. Help, please!

It's one of the most mixed lineups in the game, oftentimes getting a couple of 100-150hp cars, a mid range car and a 350-500hp monster like the GT40 (at the the worst). :yuck:

However, good timing on this question because I just saw someone is trying to make it competitive...

See Route_66s most recent post in the 200p A-Spec thread where he's attempting a 200p race with a stock Dodge Ram. :indiff: Trick is that he has to reset until GT40s, M3s and SL55s are scrubbed from the lineup.

If you don't like that, then perhaps an Imprezza or Evo or M3 or something along those lines once you get through the boredom of scrubbing the lineup?

Good luck!

I had the same dilemma, this cup can be quite boring. But, against all my beliefs, I took my SLR Mclaren, put it in B-spec and won every race.

I don't know if it's the answer you're looking for, but it did the job very well.
Good luck!

Have you tried the second Daihatsu Midget?

Seriously, get something around 300 hp, and hopefully it should get you some challenge. You could try a muscle car, too.

When i tried to beat this race, i would just do b-spec x3 and just watch TV until the race was done or when i needed to pit. To hear when i would have to pit, i just connected the PS2 sound chord to another speaker while the video still in the TV.

I did something similar. My television is independent of my surround sound (if i want it to be) so I watched tv until i heard it make the pit noise and then quickly switched over my AV on my tv so I could accept what the thing wanted, which is always tires! You see if you fill up the gas every time it takes no extra time to fill up the tank (boring little trick). I haven't really noticed the car to be lighter with less gas so I just fill it up every time I pit.

When I tried it, I think the car I used was TOO powerful. I used a fully modded Skyline GT-R32, and it kept sliding around nearly every turn, since you had to use sports tires... I'll probably try it with something a little weaker next time.

Or you could fix your suspension! Suspension is the key to gt4 not power. Anyone can lower the power of a car only the really good ones can fix the suspension to master the corners. The computer isn't a fan of drifting. I suggest you be sure to set the car up to where it is very easy for you to control. The computer may then be able to take the curves. If not the computer isn't that good of a driver (well mine isn't) so please excuse his crappiness. Surely you know all this with 80.1% completion!

You just have to get lucky, I suppose. Closest series I've had in any GT game.

On the other hand, may I advise a car that has about 200-300 when stock, and just mod the heck out of with "removeable" tuning options? This way, you can tune the car to your liking, and keep it a close race. If you're against the Ford GT, you can just use all the tunings, if irt's slower, you can qualify to cope with the lack of power the competition has, and still keep it interesting.

Aye, I know. I was doing it on A-Spec, but it seemed like my car was too powerful to turn... it would just slide a ton. I didn't bother tweaking anything yet, so that could be it.

i'm doing the twin ring motegi race from that series over and over again with diferent cars to test out suspension and performance settings.
if you find yourself up against the amg merc its a pretty good test to see if the cars are improving.
have to qualify up front though as he gets away to fast
the good thing about it is the race is worth 20,000 for a win.
forget sunday cups on the same track for 500
used the bathurst rx7 with exhaust, chip, stage 1 susp and soft tyres to win the series.

Yes, this cup is pointless. You get 4 cars in the same category as the Fiat Punto and Peugeot 206 and then they throw in a Ford GT with it. DOH. Of course I'm not going to try it with a Punto anymore once I see a Ford GT in the championship. Very boring, not going to do this series again.

I ran this championship recently with a stock Mustang Cobra R. My only competition was a SL 55 AMG. I won five races and came in second in the other five. Every race we were at least 15 seconcds ahead of the third place car. The other four cars were over-matched but I had a good time chasing or being chased by the Benz. Too bad you don't win the championship money or prize car for tying. :ouch:

Sorta OT - But from the posts in this thread - People are getting seriously lazy with the introduction of B-Spec.. I'm doing it all in A-Spec, but if Bs your choice, more power to ya !....

B-Spec.. How to beat a racing game without the hassle...

Someone said my name.....?

hello. Use a dodge ram. stock and reenter until the only good cars are the 350Z and the Impreza. It's a great race then, just sad that you're only racing one (or two) opponents at best. The RAM will not beat, the Supra, M3, Merc or the ******* GT. If the GT is in, forget it. Just reenter, it's totally not fun (NB- if you exit the series after you've seen the line up but BEFORE you start the race it won't mess up your win/loss ratio). If you really want it to be tough get a field with anything except the GT in a try a tuned Spoon Fit Race car with R tires and the whole series turns into a harder version of the mission with the MM-R cup car (hmmm maybe use that....) try it. It's all a question of reentering until you get a half decent field (i.e no GT, it's really pointless to race it, you either thrash it or lose by miles). It took me ages to get 200pts in this race, possibly the longest of any i've been running. It's stupid, but A-spec is the only way to play IMHO.

EDIT:\ Sorry, the RAM's not stock - it needs custom gearbox, or it has no top speed and gets eaten on long straights. Other than that, it works.
