Like the title says, I need help with a tune. I've looked through 17 pages of 'Tuning' on GT Planet & haven't found a thread with a tune. Please can someone help ??? I can only get 7th & that's cutting the chicane near the end !!

I can relate to your pain, as I'm currently very stuck on the seasonal event following it, the Focus in Madrid... Anyways, here is the tune I used to gold the Mini event:

Body
Rigidity Improvement

Power
No extra mods. Engine at 171 bhp naturally, from 3hrs of practice.

Transmission
Fully Customizable, 250 km/h or ~155 m/h

Drivetrain
Twin-Plate Clutch and Semi-Racing Flywheel, default/no LSD.

Suspension
Fully Customizable:
Ride Height front -25, rear -20
Spring Rate front 5.5, rear 10.0
Dampers (Ext) front 6, rear 7
Dampers (Com) front 1, rear 5
Anti-Roll bars front 4, rear 6
Camber Angle front 1.2, rear 0.6
Toe Angle front +0.25, rear -0.15

Brakes
Balance front 4, rear 3

Tyres
Comfort Soft

Couple of tips:
* Don't use 6th gear (you shouldn't need to with this tune).
* Don't use Traction Control or Active Stability because they will only slow the (already slow) Mini down for no benefit.
* Try to shift up about 500rpm before the interface readline as the Mini loses a lot of power at high revs.
* Lap times I needed to win it were around 1.05

After 5 attempts and consistent 1:05-1:06 laps I could never place better than 5th. I even maxed out the rear suspension spring rate and roll bar, but could never eliminate the apocalyptic understeer.

On the horsepower front, I noticed lowering setting the transmission to max accelleration dropped the HP to 167. Could I add a tuning part to bump it back up to the limit, or is the allowable limit for the race based on the pre-tuned HP?

When I get home tonight, I'll post my setup for this race. Surprisingly enough, this race was fairly easy as compared to the Ford Focus challenge. I had to turn on the anti-skid assist (shamefully).

Can I recommend setting the transmission to 190 km/h (118 mph) and actually using 6th gear.
You should use as much tricks to fight understeer as you can - stiffer, but higher rear, brake bias, lowish or no LSD.
Don't go to extremes, also.

Good luck.

There are a few threads in the Q&A forum, plus some dealing with the collective Seasonal Events.

The race you're on about is Seasonal Event #2 btw - #1 was the Fiat 500.

This along with the correct gearing was KEY to me winning this race. I tried all kinds of tweaks and various adjustments, but could run no better then 3rd. All the while I noticed the Mini seemed to die at higher revs so I started short shifting. Sure enough I gained some speed. Then I went back put the final drive ratio so my top speed was 128 mph, keeping motor far from redline in top gear. All of sudden I went from .5 seconds behind to a win with 2.5 seconds to spare! I changed nothing else, just the final drive and now the race was easy to win. The Mini just hates being driven like a Honda S2000 ;) just take a good look at its performance overview, where is shows the engines power curve... after 5,000 RPM the engine's power drops off a cliff.

I believe the only major tune I did with the Mini was transmission set at 118. Of course you should buy all the drive train components at well. This race is not that difficult, just keep going at it. Unfortunately for me I can't say the same for the Ford Focus event. :yuck:

Holy crap. This setup is insane. Setup the Mini exactly as it is here and I aced this race within 4 laps of the five. Once I crossed the finish line on the fifth lap, I was leading by 8 seconds. If anyone reads this that cannot get first in the Mini Seasonal event, please try this setup I've quoted. Works like a charm.
