Help - Shift 2 Steam won't start

What the title says, the game won't start. The screen just turns black and practically crashes my laptop. All I can do is open the Start menu and shut it down or reboot it. I can open the Task Manager, but it literally doesn't do anything. I have tried everything I've seen online, and nothing works in the slightest.

My laptop is a Legion Y540-15IRH with a GeForce RTX 2060, i7-9750H with 16 GB of RAM and Windows 10.

Thanks, but I already did that. Either way it wasn't the problem. I installed it with Origin which instead of just screwing me, game me an actual reason the game didn't launch, I was missing the PhysX controllers. I installed them and now the game works just fine.

I bought Nfs Shift 2 unleashed Dvd copy back in 2011 and at a later stage could download the SpeedHunters and Legends pack from Origin. Now after about 6 years and also new pc I installed the game again but can not find the Speedhunters and Legends Dlc for download. Does anyone know where I can find these Dlc’s?

Welcome! The DLCs are now bundled with the game, there's no separate download for them. You should already have the cars available.

Oh but I still have the dvd copy from 2011. Guess I have to buy the game again lol. Thanks for the reply. Would it be bundled with the steam version too?

Oh crap I misread your comment, sorry. Yes - the DLC is bundled with the Steam version, and if you get it there you can also activate it on Origin and download it there. Right now it's on sale on Steam for $5.

Here's a crazy idea tho, does your DVD come with an activation code? If it does you could try to activate it on Origin, I doubt it'll work but who knows.

Yes it does have the activation code. I will try a re-installation tomorrow and give feedback. Thanks for the quick replies.

I bought the game from Steam and installed it a couple of hours ago. Only the Legends Dlc is bundled with it. I looked through all the cars and only found the Legends cars.

This is my installation directory.



There is two Dlc folders and also drag racing is available in game. As far as I know the Speedhunters cars came with Dlc 2 and the drag racing.

I tried starting the game from scratch but not sure if you have to unlock the Speedhunters cars at some stage.

Yeah I just looked it up and there's just one guy who mentioned you have to unlock the cars. So just in case maybe try a completed save to be sure it's working, but I guess that was the problem.

I did try with a 51% save but still no cars. Will have to test as soon as I get to play again. Away from home for a couple of days

Hey there. I did the verify integrity of game files on Steam and there were 19 files missing. Steam fixed it automatically and all the dlc cars are there now

That's a bug, in general all the version are quite buggy
