Ok. At this moment I am running windows xp pro (illegit version) BUT wait! I used to have a legal win xp home but it got a virus and someone suggested I upgrade it to pro to solve the problem and it worked. Now with all this WGA madness I want to return to my legit windows Home which I still have the product key for.:ouch: sorry if I sound awkward but I am a bit annoyed at the moment.

Original Home CD - Re-install with original product key.. Sorry man - Tough luck..

The thing is that I don't have it. it came preinstalled. I have soome recovery discs from my uncle but I have so many things on my computer that I don't want to give up.

Do you have an external hard drive? How about some blank CD's or DVD's? You could always back up the data you don't want to lose and then use the recovery disks to install a legit copy.

You should always have a backup of your files anyways, even if you're not planning on re-installing anything on your computer. You never know when you will accidentally delete something, get a virus, or your hard drive will fail :scared:

I do have some blank cd's but what about programs? My cousin installed mcafee onto my computer (using his msn account) and I don't want to lose it. I'll be getting a new computer sometime this year, how would I get some programs from my old comp onto it without the installation cd, e.g. mcafee?

The morale of this story is to use bought, legal versions of programs. Then you'll have no problems re-installing them from the original CD.

A cousin installed it for me using his MSN account. Forking over $100+ for my computer isn't common for my parents. Even my computer was a gift. And if you're talking about winxp, all of that in the first post happened more than a year ago. I thought about installing the Vista beta but I would have to upgrade my memory (256) and graphics card (Intel Extreme). My dad figure4s that he'll just get me a new computer.

Such are the problems inherent in not buying legitimate software. Did you not read this thread?

Consider yourself warned. Do not discuss your travails with pirated software here again.
