HELP--What is the best racing game like Gran Turismo 5?

Hi. Long story short, what do you think is the second best racing game after Gran Turismo 5?

Longer version--I bought a G27 wheel and a copy of GT5 and have been THOROUGHLY entertained. However, I've completed most of GT5 and am anxiously awaiting GT5. So, in the mean time I was hoping someone could recommend the "next best thing" to keep me occupied while waiting for GT6. I'm fully disabled after breaking my back, so I've got lots of time to kill.

I'm not expecting it to be as good as GT5, but if its the same type of game I'd be happy. I know that's not a lot of detail, but given this is a website who's contributors are big fans of Gran Turismo, I think "what's the 2nd best racing game after Gran Turismo" is enough.:-)

F1 2012 is pretty cool. You can get a free trial version on PS3 store. It may take all night to download, but well worth it.

Get well soon. I discovered GT5 after recovering from surgery myself. Great therapy. Helps a little to keep the mind off the pain.
 
Going to go out on a ledge here and guess you only have a PS3?
 
I'd get something cheap since you'll most likely only be playing it for 26ish days. Shift 2 is by no means as good as GT5(in my opinion) but it should keep you entertained till GT6. A word of warning though, it will take a while to get used to how the cars handle. My favorite game besides GT5 is F1 2013, the AI are much better than any other game I've played and it feels fresh after playing GT for so long. I know that wasn't too detailed, but I hope it helps:cheers:
 
You would need a PC if you want anything decent, unless your willing to wait till PCARS.

Rfactor 2, Iracing and Netkar Pro would be the other options i would go for.
 
There are plenty of decent console racing games. Saying you have to have a PC for anything worthwhile is a stretch.


Edit: Shift, Grid series, F1 series, etc etc. Not perfect but fun nonetheless.
 
Why not just finish the rest of GT5? Surely that should hold you over for the few weeks we have left.

Also, have you golded everything? That could be a challenging way to past the time.

Lastly, what about the seasonals? They get updated pretty frequently and should keep you busy Golding them.
 
Shift 2 keep you entertain. Also Ferrari Racing Legends
