Help with Choosing a Cockpit Chassis to Mount Real Car Seat

I've been looking around for a gaming rig (for example, I liked the Rseat Evo V3) but from what I've read, most bucket seats are tight and uncomfortable for those of us with a larger waist- I'm 6,2 with 38" waist.

I don't have the time to design and build my own rig, so, I was thinking about either getting a wheel stand like the Steadiplay and a car seat with a base (perhaps something like Corbeau - http://www.racing-seats-usa.com/gamingbase.html) or better yet, a gaming chassis without the bucket and mount a car seat on it (and latter on, possibly a center console to place the gearshift :-) )

-Have any of you guys (or gals) done this before?
-Any proposals for a good chassis without the bucket that I could easily mount a regular car seat on it with the rails?
-I would like the end result to look nice and clean, like Chilicoke's rig, the Human Racing setup or even the Rseat Evo pieces.

I too find the bucketseats a little uncomfortable, they look better but long racing tends to annoy more than comfort.

Not sure what your budget is. Maybe some modification to an existing rig could work but then a resale value later might hinder the sale. I had to take matters into my own hands, which was what I rather do anyway but I built this style designed around my needs and it exceeds anything I have tried before.

MuchoJimbo# Is that a custom made chassis? From what I can tell, you hard mounted the seat, right? I'd probably try to put it on with the rails, maybe on a piece of wood if I couldn't do it directly on the steel.

I'd say the budget would be up to $500ish for the rig and a real car seat or a comfortable bucket seat.

The rig is custom made, when designing, the seat already had the rails on it, I just removed the seat straight from the car off the floor mounting on the floor of the car. Then attached the seat to rig by those preexisting bolt hole mounts by welding tabs off of the tubing. Since this rig was built around this seat, no other seat would work unless the bolt pattern were the same or further modification wa s made.

Nice rig Mr. S. Question, I see you turned around the steering wheel mount. How did that work out?

On a side note, Rseat emailed me back, they said it's comfortable for a 38" waist, but other people on GTplanet said otherwise (they also answered a few more questions I asked)

"Dear Customer,
We do sell just Frames they are compatible with most of the racing seats with side mounts
I'm not sure about attaching a car seat on it
if you are 38" waist you would be able to fit with no problem
Seats are one size fit all
We are still working on the padding of the seat and it hasn't changed yet
Upgrade kit cost $85+shipping
