Hello again.
I just purchased a DFGT wheel to enhance my experience with GT5.
Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect.

I must be doing something wrong because it's really hard to turn the wheel, harder than a real car! And then sometimes, the wheel is turning itself!?! I just seem to bounce from wall to wall.
I must have the settings wrong.

Can someone help me configure this wheel?

I'm kinda new with GT5. Any help would be really appreciated:)

Yes the wheel turns itself when going at high speeds because,as somebody said, it can only 'read' force feedback one side at a time which causes the wheel turn from side to side.

Try adjusting the wheel settings in the game options to suit your needs.

That shouldn't be. While the DFGT does exert a tiny amount of force on the wheel, it requires almost no effort to counter this force. A three-year-old can turn the DFGT wheel just fine (hypothetically).

On a side note, I remember watching a program talking about how an Indy driver trains for steering in races. He has to exert something like sixty pounds of force against the wheel to steer it, which doesn't sound like a whole lot but keep in mind that this isn't lifting or pushing but more of a twisting motion, which is not so natural. He had a rig where he sat down in front of a basic wheel and just turns it back and forth, but from the wheel there's a rod with like sixty pounds of weights at the end.

HAHA! remember having the same perspective when i first bought it.Although GT5 was not released yet.
What u feel is called "force feedback" ,wich allows you to interact more "lively" and accurately whit the car's handling than a controller.
Youre suppoused to keep your hands on the wheel all the time while driving right?.
It took me a few months to get used to,after playing years whit the controller.
You can adjust the Force feedback strenght in the options,i actually raised mine since i felt the default level too weak.
Now,my economic class car is really a pain to drive whit no Power steering and busted steering parts (crashed by previous owner).

It's probably defective, and Logitech won't warranty it. Just send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly.

Exactly what prodrive said ... you have to get used to the wheel, force yourself to use it and you will eventually get comfortable with it. I got to level 33 with the DS3 and switching to the DFGT was quite an adjustment, so much so that I nearly abandoned it in favor of the controller. Now I can't imagine ever going back to racing with the controller, I love the wheel.

When the wheel is "turning itself" you are probably experiencing force feedback which you feel in most all cars as you may know and as far as the wheel being "hard to turn" you can adjust the force feedback strength in the wheel settings from the GT5 options menu but that won't go away completely because it's realistic in most cases.

You did remember to plug all of it in(pedals, usb, outlet) and let the wheel properly calibrate right? I believe you did, but its human nature to forget sometimes:p

I had the same problem when i first got mine, but give it time and you will get better! then you will reep the rewards.

Thanks for the support! I did a 3 hour session today-starting with a SLOW honda civic and just drove not worrying about racing. By the end, i've gotten to the point where i can win.
I have the Force Feedback set on 10. I think it helps me stop over-steering so much, and its a nice workout, too! I also think that I started off with too fast of a car and a difficult course (london, British lightweight- seasonal). It'll come, i just have to practice and get used to it.

Thanks again for the advice!

it depends what kind of car your driving because most supercars are hard to steer

but I guess the hardness of the steering is just as hard as go karts

I play with DFGT with 10 force feedback and simulation:real.

and its no harder than a go kart's steering wheel

Default should be 5. Also, if you keep the level at 10 for too long, you might become to adapted to using a strong level. I would say to start using force feedback level 3.

The Simulation setting doesn't apply to the DFGT. Changes to that only affect the Driving Force Pro.

It took me a couple of months get used to mine, but I can only play for a little bit at night so my kids don't run past and trip over the cable. I don't even play during the day anymore because I have no desire to play with the contoller.

Also I heard somewhere on these forums that setting the FFB to 10 will shorten the life of the DFGT quite a bit. I don't know if it's true, but I keep mine lower just in case.

Ok so I need you guys to try this before complaining... 1st Make sure the wheel is calibrated correctly.... 2nd Make sure your wheels are the forward portion of your wheels pointing inward (toe). 3rd Get the body restoration to straighten out any damage 4th Make sure you aren't running any stupid or unrealistic settings (make sure they are balanced, no really soft front while running massive rake, or super high rear downforce and low front)... then... go up the hill at the end of the ring to test... you will go straight without wobble or teetering.
This is not the most agile setup but it is stable, and will save you from dealing with logitec customer service re: an RMA...If you wheel is in fact faulty, good luck.
